No, I am not talking about the cereal either! 😉 Although, I could ponder on the fact that there is really a cereal called Lucky Charms…Where do they come up with those cereal names anyway? Cute as can be those little marshmallow pieces, it does reel the kids in doesn’t it? Oh my goodness I started to digress before I get to my title and just what I am talking about.
Back on track…Who actually has a lucky charm? Do you believe in them? Does anyone carry one with them at all times? Do you simply have to have your lucky charm and if you lost it, oh no! Why am I writing about this today? Well, a friend of both Autumn’s and mine lost her lucky charm a few days ago. We twinnies heard all about it, what is our friend R.’s lucky charm? It’s a set of angel wings she always kept on her key chain, she had them for years and she considers them her lucky charm so to speak. I am not superstious, neither is the twinnie and we don’t have lucky charms…Sorry to disappoint!
Anyway, our friend R. was just plain ripping everything apart looking for it and just so distraught. I was ready to head over to help her search, she only lives about 5 miles away. My other thought was to try and find a replacement set of angel wings, but that wouldn’t have set well with R. she HAD to have the orginal and wouldn’t take kindly to a new set. I also wasn’t dumb enough to tell her they may be lost forever either.I am no fool, when it comes to certain things R. does denial quite well.I had already reminded her, that her angels were always around her. Yeah, she knew that but husband G. had gotten them for and they were special!
So, I was getting ready to head out the door, anything to help out a friend, right? My phone rings and it’s R. again and she was all calmed down! Yay, her teenage son to the rescue…He had found the angel wings in her car! Peace was restored and R. had settled down from the panic attack and mad search she was on. We talked for a short while, agreeing to meet up in a couple days for a scheduled get together…Yes, I reassured her the twinnie would be coming along, too. Hanging up, I must tell you…My mind was whirling with this lucky charm business. How can a simple object be cause or reason for if things go well, or they don’t? Why do some people insist on carrying them around and like our friend R. just devasted when said lucky charm goes missing?
Well, that seems to be my question of the day for you kind readers. Who carries a lucky charm in their possession? Who thinks they are silly or is of the mindset…We make our own luck? Inquiring twinnies would love to hear your opinion! 🙂 🙂
What a fun post this is 🙂 It’s interesting for sure, let’s see if anyone has a lucky charm?? TF ❤ = Twins Forever
I am trying to write some fun posts and hope this one is fun for everyone. Guess we’ll see if anyone has a lucky charm, if the kind readers wish to answer! 🙂 TF <3=Twins Forever
A good post in deed, glad she find what she lost. I don’t have lucky charms, as well don’t believe in them. I put it all in GOD hands! Hope that make sense! 🙂
Thanks PJ, and I am glad she found her angel wings, too. I didn’t think you had lucky charms, it is best to put it in God’s hands always. You made perfect sense PJ, you always do! How are you feeling today, I hope you are still doing better. 🙂
I’m feeling okay. headache is gone so thats good. I believe my evil Psychology class might bring it back to haunt me before I close my eye’s tonight. Aww thank you for your kind words Gabby, and for checking up on me as well. What would I do without my Gabby Angel 🙂 God Bless You 🙂
I am so glad to hear your headache is gone PJ! That evil Psychology class better not come back to haunt you, that was one of my favorite classes in college. But, I do remember some headaches from the class, too. I try so hard not to worry about you PJ, I pray so much for good health for you. Checking up on you is so natural because you are such a dear, sweet person. You’re asking what you would do without me PJ? Well, what would I do without you my sweet friend? 🙂 God Bless you, too!
The way I see it, “lucky charms” are little idols that people put their misguided faith in. Can a charm really hold that much power over a persons mind that if they lose it they also act like they’ve lost their mind??? A scripture came to mind upon reading this which I will modify for humor sake:
Psalm 20:7
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses [and some “Lucky Charms”]; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God. 😉
Your “Luck” cannot be defined by the possession of some mere object for protection. It cannot sustain you so really, I find that charms should just be viewed as trinkets for fun sake and not really become objects that people put so much misguided faith into for some kind of level of “protection” as some would have it. I dunno, what do you think twinnies? :S
I agree about the lucky charms being much like idols. Neither Autumn or I believe it them and your scripture from Psalms was very accurate. No possession can fix or change anything, certainly not used for protection. I was kind of writing the post for fun, but I should have clarifed us twinnies thoughts. Thanks so much for your input Nightshade, it is all so true! 🙂
I don’t believe charms possess power and/or bring luck to the owner. A nice thought? BTW, I am a twin also, fraternal. See our photo on my welcome page. Blessings
Thanks for reading and leaving a comment Jeanne. I don’t believe charms possess power or bring luck either. Our friend who lost her angel wings charm was upset because she had it for so long and it was a gift from her husband. That is wonderful you are a fraternal twin, and I did get a chance to read your welcome page, I am happy you have a twin! 🙂 Like you, I was also widowed over 8 years ago, I lost my husband to cancer. So, I identified with that, too. I am sorry I haven’t got a chance to read more of your blog and promise I will. Blessings to you, too! 🙂
Glad your friend R. found the angel wings. Nothing like losing something sentimental. I have lots of little sentimental things and if I am stressed, I have found myself just tucking a little item in my backpack or pocket. It is usually just a small sentimental item someone close to me has given me. Just makes me feel better. Take care. Sincerely, Connie and I just try and feel like there is more of a “Someone” looking out for me and others and that helps me feel more comforted, too. I think little tokens are just ways of making one feel better as well and don’t see any harm in it either. Especially something meaningful. I saw a movie once where a little boys mom passed away. He went out and bought her perfume she wore just to be reminded of her when he smelled its scent in the bottle. I thought that was real sweet. So sometimes little items we buy or carry with us do have lots of meaning. I am sure the troops overseas carry with them many meaningful items, too. Nice writing. Bye for now.
I’m glad she found the angel wings, too.You just made me realize, I should have titled the blog maybe Sentimental Things Lost instead, or something similiar. I am worrying it sounds like I am talking about something wrong. Thank you for understanding what I was getting at Connie! 🙂 I think that is so nice you tuck little sentimental things in you jacket or backpack when feeling stressed. I do the same thing, but we don’t think of them as lucky charms. It’s very comforting and usually something of Dave’s or my Dad’s. That is so sweet how you summed it up so nicely, thanks for that. That movie sounds so familiar you just described, but I can’t think of the name of it! I am sure the troops do carry meaningful items with them, too. You sure made me feel a lot better, thanks again Connie! Take care and Hugs, Gabby
what a fun read..although those who believe in them are quite stressed out when they dont get them on time..so thank God your friend found it:-)
I believe my refrigerator, book shelves and washing machines are portal to another world and people from that world come and keep things( specialy socks, napkins and combs) somewhere where i would not find them for a long long time…so if i had a lucky charm..oh man all I would be doing is looking for it..
That is so funny about your refrigerator, washing machine and bookshelves Soma! 🙂 The missing socks are the most troublesome to me, now I finally have an answer where they’re going. 😉 Good thing you don’t have a lucky charm, you would be endlessly looking for it! Thanks for making me laugh, that was such a fun comment Soma. 🙂
