Today is a Holiday~ by Gabby Angel

Yes it is, I checked into it! January 11th is a holiday, of sorts anyway. The name of the holiday you ask? It’s “Step in a Puddle and Splash Your Friend Day”! You never heard of it? Neither did I quite honestly, until I stumbled on bizzare holidays for every day of the month. Somebody was bound to have thought of such a fanciful idea like this! Of course you won’t find this holiday on your calendars, but let’s embrace it all the same, shall we? 🙂

This one struck me as quite amusing, so I just have to write my take on it. I know it is a bit weird, but humor me just a bit. It might be worth a laugh or possibly two, I hope. 😉 If any of you kind readers didn’t already realize… You just have to go with the flow on this blog, kind of always expect the unexpected.) 😉 We make our own fun and do cherish and simply love to laugh!

OK, stepping in puddles and splashing…What fun it was when we were kids. Just having a good old time, dancing through those puddles! Splashing in a puddle as an adult, still fun…For the young at heart anyway! Splashing your friend? Not too nice I would have to say right off hand. Unless your friend has a very good sense of humor and doesn’t mind such things, that is. The other drawback to this wacky holiday is…In some parts of the country puddles are frozen! I know they are here in Pennsylvania…So no splashing will be going on around here. Splashing in puddles in my youth, I did it all the time and so did Autumn. How many of you loved jumping in puddles and splashing like crazy when you were young? How many of you still love splashing and jumping in puddles? How many of you made someone a bit mad while jumping and splashing, and they maybe got wet? How many of you would care to tell us about it? I perhaps do ask a lot of questions, don’t I? I can’t help myself…It’s just all about the sharing! I still love to jump in puddles, and so does Autumn we freely admit it! 🙂 We will never grow up in certain areas of our lives it seems, which is probably a good thing I say! I think it’s really all about bringing out the inner child, what do you all think? Isn’t it rather fun to let that inner child loose?

I say yes, let’s all make it our goal to have that inner child just run wild for 2012, what does everyone think? Twinnie says she is going to give it a whirl…Didn’t everyone not already guess this? 😉 Come on, let us know…Are you with us? Remember…Inquiring twinnies just need to ask! 😉 🙂

  1. August 8th is Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor’s Porch Night, of which I have been observing religiously for years.

    • That is really good to find out and thanks for sharing. I will defintely know what to do with my extra zucchini come August 8th! 🙂 Thank you for stopping by and reading, I will be over to check out your blog soon. 🙂

  2. I’m so down with that! lol! I would love to run in the rain as well, but that wont be happening no time soon to it get hella warm! 🙂 My little lady love splashing, she can’t help herself!

    • Too bad it didn’t rain, you could have been jumping and splashing in puddles! Would you have really spashed a friend…I shouldn’t need to ask the hahahaha tells me, Yes you would have! lol 🙂

  3. This is so cute and delightful, Gabby! I can remember doing this as a child and I agree, let the inner child loose! However, there are two things holding me back…one is, I have a cold and it’s probably not the smartest thing to do until I’m better…two, I’m in CA and we haven’t had any rain this winter! 🙂 But, I’ll think of you when these factors no longer apply and I can jump into my inner child~ 🙂

    • Oh no, you have a cold Lauren. hope you feel better fast! I’m glad you are all for letting your inner child loose, it keeps us feeling young and happy! 🙂 No rain yet in CA, that is pretty unusual isn’t it? The weather sure has been strange for everyone it seems, we have had more rain than snow this winter! Please take care, feel better soon Lauren! 🙂

  4. Every day I check my mail to see what else you have written and you never disappoint me…this is such fun and i love jumping in puddles…always had and then for a moment the evil clutches of “what will others think got me” but my daughter reminded me the fun days again…oh every rain we look forward to this huge spashing madness and slowly other kids join in too…its so much fun…another thing i remember is finger painting and using each others face as canvas..
Gabby tons of love and warm hugs for such a wonderful post..

    • Soma, that is so sweet to say. 🙂 I am so happy your daughter changed the “what will people think?” and got you out of the evil clutches of that mind set. That makes me so glad to know the two of you are out jumping in puddles when the rain comes along! Then, having other kids join in, too…Yay what fun and joy! I never did the finger painting and using each other’s faces as a canvas, I might just have to give it a whirl…It’s never too late. 🙂 Thanks for enjoying my sometimes silly posts. Hugs and love back to you! 🙂

    • Hmm…Well, you are aging in reverse it seems. It only happens in a fanasty drama and perhaps with aliens I suppose. Well, your inner child still needs to have fun, even though it might be a bit messy! 😉

  5. when we were kids, my mom would have us put swimsuits on, & go outside & just play in the rain… when we were in Phoenix arizona, it rained so seldom, that even the day after it rained, she would send us out to play in the puddles, & run-off. haha, what an awesome mom! Maybe the water wasn’t as clean, but it was water! & to kids, heck! they don’t care! water is water. haha, as an adult, or whatever u call 22 yr olds, (cuz i don’t feel like an adult), i wouldn’t want someone else to splash me. my mom no longer does my laundry, & id be a little annoyed. but, every now & then, when im caught in the rain, i will throw caution to the wind & just dance. that’s where it’s the funnest. puddle-splashing, singing, and acting like a fool in a summer rain, there’s nothing like it… they should have made this holdiay for april or may…

    • Oh my goodness what fun times you had as a kid, it sounds awesome. Your Mom is a cool Mom indeed, you kids must have loved those times. 🙂 I don’t feel like an adult either, so you aren’t alone in that thought! I don’t think I would be thrilled with someone splashing me, so I’m with you on that one! In the summer rain, it is lots of fun dancing and singing in the rain, isn’t it? You are right, the holiday should be in the spring or even summer! 🙂

What do you think??
