Throw That Word “Coincidence” Out of the Dictionary!

This could also have the title of “Gabby Does a Rant”! Why isn’t that the title? Well, to start I don’t really do rants. It’s just not my style, I know people have them all over the blogsphere. *Please DO NOT take offense, I just want it on record I don’t do rants. Instead I would rather refer to what I do as debates. I was having one of these debates earlier with someone who is an aquaintance, not really a friend so to speak. Well, not that it makes a difference…But I got extremely irritated. Not that I think everyone should agree with me either! In my humble opinion the word “coincidence” should be tossed out of the dictionary. Because in my humble opinion again, there’s no such thing! Everything happens for a reason, I truly believe that with all my heart. There are no chance happenings, an accidental event and all the rest. I am so leaving myself open to debating by actually writing this. But it’s been bugging me all day long, so write it I must!

Hopefully you kind readers will be nice about this post in giving your opinion on this subject. I don’t argue, I seriously only do debate and that is the truth. I just find the word coincidence so downright stupid and every time I hear it used I could scream. If I was given to screaming, which of course I’m not. But it is frustrating, does anyone think that there is no divine order of things? There has to be…Because everthing does happen or occur for a reason. It’s a common sense thing for me to say this…Just think about it! I have so long, so many years thought this and I really wouldn’t be writing this if I wasn’t passionate about the whole deal. I highly doubt the word coincidence will ever get thrown out of the dictionary…Which is too bad for me. It would save any further debates on my part. It was much easier when my husband Dave was alive, because he, too did not believe in coincidences.

It started very early Dave and I had the coincidence disscussion…How wonderful we agreed on the whole matter!  Like we ended up together because it was a concidence we got put in each other’s path? Did we end up married because of a “chance meeting”? Not hardly, it was meant to be and that I am very, very positive and so was Dave. Everything has to occur for a reason, call it because of life lessons. Because we are getting them as we wander through this life we’re living.

I am sure there are many of you kind readers that will no doubt disagree with me. That’s OK, everyone certainly can’t all agree all the time! Thankfully Autumn does agree with me, and not because I say so or because we are twins and it’s TF ❤ honest! I got her permission to state her opinion. Is anyone reading and by chance agreeing with me? I would love to hear from you kind readers, what is your honest opinion of the word coindence? Please do share…But please do be kind! 🙂 🙂

  1. I’m so glad you love this post, you may end up being the only one! I hope the kind readers like this post, we’ll see. 🙂 Deepak Chopra would agree about the word coincidence, but doubt he is going to read this. 😉 🙂 TF ❤

  2. Thanks Dan, it’s also very kind of you to leave it up to us to participate. 🙂 We will try, but sorry to say we can’t promise. Both of our time schedules seem to be overflowing lately, leaving us with not enough of the time element. You enjoy your day also! 🙂 Gabby and Autumn

  3. Gabby agree 100% with you on this. there are no coincidences..infact i have always maintained no one and nothing comes or goes before or after their time to do so.
really ,…of course we humans have this emotional bonding with things and fellow humans so we do sometimes give in to these thoughts…but every thing has its time and place in universe and nothing can and has been able to alter that fact.
love this post, its exactly how i feel about things.
    hugs 🙂

    • I love it and so happy you are with me on this one Soma! 🙂 Had a feeling you would be, Yay! I liked how you said everything has it’s time and place in the universe because that is so true. I am happy you loved this post, I really was wondering if it was really OK to write it. Autumn of course was supportive, too so I am glad the two of you are with me on this one. OMG you really are a soul sister! 🙂 I’m wondering if anyone else will be agreeing with us, we’ll see! 🙂 Hugs back to you!

      • You know what Gabby and i just speaking from whatever knowledge i have gathered so far, that people like us( you, me, autumn) who have seen some amount of pain in their life( some more, some less) have a better perspective of life, we take the day as it comes deal with whatever has to be dealt with, choose forgiveness and peace over anything else and we avoid petty inane things of life and look at the bigger picture..laugh as much as we can and share jokes and positivity every where around..
i hope more people read this post and understand the real message behind no coincidence theme

  4. That was so well said Soma, I agree that is truly how we are. I know the three of us have seen our pain in life and we really do make things around us more peaceful and all. So true about the forgiveness and laughing, thank you so much for adding this Soma! I really am hoping people will get the real message behind the coincidence theme I have going, too. I appreciate you speaking up about the whole subject, it makes me happy for the support! 🙂

  5. Dear Gabby, I share in your belief, but with a different slant. I believe everything happens the way it is supposed to, because that is the only way anything can happen at all. I am consistently surprised by the way that, most of the time, stuff works itself out — with or without help from us. So I also think the term “coincidence” just does not apply in the way people use it now. I will enjoy hitting the dictionary and thesaurus to look carefully at what the word actually means.

  6. In my previous post I also shared that things happen for a reason coz I believed it is a God’s plan for everything just having a pattern to follow, and sometimes bad things came first before the good one and vice versa, depends on the person point of view and beliefs, for me the word coincidence is just a collaboration of things needed to happen. My friend I am not good in debate so I just share my thoughts only hahaha…. 😉

    • I think that is a nice way to sum it up and your meaning of the word coincidence! That is funny how you and your friend aren’t good with debates. 🙂 In that case, it’s best to keep it at thoughts only! 🙂

    • Thanks for stopping in to comment! 🙂 I am quite pleased to hear you don’t believe in coincidence either. I will be checking out that post from May on your blog, it should be interesting! 🙂

  7. I found it and already read it and loved it! It was so out of the realm of anything that would randomly happen…I can see how that one made a believer out of you. Tossing coincidence out of the dictionary is getting better and better! 🙂 I hope you write more about this subject, too. You are welcome for the post and it was “no coincidence” me writing it.Thank you for writing yours as well, which again, was “no coincidence”! 🙂

  8. Gabby, I also agree with you in believing that all things happen for a reason and I do believe that it all happens according to God’s plan, which is my belief. So, you have my permission to “delete” the word “coincidence!” Although, even with my faith, I have been guilty of questioning…
    🙂

    • Thanks so much for your input Lauren! I am happy you are in agreement about the word “coincidence”. I sure wish we could delete or get it tossed out of the dictionary! 🙂
