National Honesty Day is Today!

April 30th and its National Honesty Day, for real it is! 🙂 Can you believe they actually started a bizarre and unusual holiday for being honest? When I first saw it, I really did have a laugh. It’s like they are insinuating the rest of the days are Let’s Practice Dishonesty Days or let’s all lie?! Who made up this holiday anyway? I thought about this is and it’s kind of serious thing, this business of honesty. Well, for the most part I do believe it’s a given that most people are honest. Of course I do look for the good in anyone and everyone, so I could be wrong. But, I sure do hope not.

It’s odd to me to fathom telling lies, making stuff up or being anything but honest. Why do it and what’s the point? How can people who aren’t honest remember to get those lies or the story straight anyway? I am just not clear at all on that one, it must get awfully burdensome. A sad practice indeed and so unnecessary and I mean that with all my heart. So maybe today is good day for those who have trouble with the honesty factor to give it some thought, maybe? Is that why someone  thought up this holiday? The more I think about it maybe it wasn’t made up just for the heck of it. Nothing to make light of, you know what I’m saying?

I love to laugh, enjoy having a good time and Autumn and I try so hard to make our blog be fun and happy, always. Of course you kind readers know this already. I am not writing this stuff to upset people or give a little lecture of sorts and I certainly don’t want people to be depressed about the subject. It’s something to think about, something to ponder about…I really do like pondering myself. I do it a lot actually, that is clearly obvious I have a feeling. My pondering may be well-known by now!

Anyway, today is National Honesty Day and everybody you decide the best way to celebrate the day! You kind readers make the day what you will, OK? Any thoughts or wanting to share, please do feel free to chime in…Sharing is always good! 🙂

The Lilac Faery

Swirling magic she goes

making the flowers grow

The lilacs are the best

We should have guessed

she is tiny but strong

her spells can’t go wrong

she learned when she was so young

when her lessons had just begun

She learned fastest of all

even when she was very small!

and all the while

she spins with a smile

each flower is blessed

her magic has passed every test

so watch and you may see

this tiny faery, small as a bee …

Quotes About Happiness

I was thinking about happiness and went looking for some good happiness quotes. It’s something that we really all do need to find for ourselves. It’s my honest belief that happiness has to come from within ourselves…If we aren’t happy, never will we be able to make anyone else happy. Also, the thought that only happiness can be reached by another person or persons handing it to us? That’s so not going to happen, that’s just the way it is in real life. Maybe I’m not saying it the right way, I’m sure the quotes speak better than I can. I hope you kind readers enjoy them! 🙂
1.Happiness is a continuation of happenings which are not resisted~Deepak Chopra
2.Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared~Buddha
3.Some cause happiness wherever they go; Others whenever they go~Oscar Wilde
4.The amount of happiness that you have depends on the amount of freedom you have in your heart~Tich Nhat Hanh
5.The basic thing is that everyone wants happiness, no one wants suffering. And happiness mainly comes from our own attitude, rather than from external factors. If your own mental attitude is correct, even if you remain in a hostile atmosphere, you feel happy~Dalai Lama
6.Happiness is a direction, not a place~Sydney J. Harris
7.Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love and something to hope for~Joseph Addison
8.Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony~Mahatma Gandi
9.You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life~Albert Camus
10.Every minute you are angry, you lose sixty seconds of happiness~Author Unknown
11.Happiness resides not in possessions and not in gold, the feeling of happiness dwells in the soul~Democritus
12.All who would win joy, must share it; happiness was born a twin~Lord Byron

A Faery Ring

The faeries gather in a ring

the birds start to sing

a happy tune

it’s just past noon

the meeting of the troop

they’re circled in a group

glad to have a meet

they smile as each one they greet

a lot to share

they all care

so very much

and now they must

talk and decide

and also confide

how the wish to grow

and they all know

their magic lives

and also gives

hope to humans around

and love must be found

to help all that wish to be

loved and free …

Inner Child Alert!

This is my own personal idea and no it’s not a bizarre or unusual holiday. I made this one up all by myself and I am proud of this shout out. Listen up kind readers…It’s a day for all of us to let our inner child out to play! 🙂 Come on, it’s a good day as any and we all need to give this one a whirl!

I am inspired today, I was in the park near my house. Wow, what fun these kids were having! Such smiles, and happiness just flowing like crazy. I was over at the park walking around and just having a peaceful hour, but these kids got me so inspired. I met up with the sweetest young mother and her two daughters, they were a pair of 5-year-old twins! I loved seeing a set of young twinnies play and jump about with all that excitement. They were just having a blast on the swings, then were just having a grand time on all the other playground equipment. I have to admit I joined in taking a turn on the swings myself and then I was in for a quick game of tag.

The twins and their Mom thought it was so awesome that I was also a twin…It took me back to Autumn’s and my younger days! 🙂 A few more kids arrived at the park and soon everybody was just having a fun time of it all. I find myself reverting to childhood among these young kids…Not one ounce of an embarrassment coming from me! I am either the silliest person you would want to meet or just a free flying kid in the disguise of a grownup. 😉 The whole concept of letting our inner child out to frolic for a little while today or any day is just such a great idea. Or have I been bitten by the Peter Pan Syndrome bug? Nope, I think not…I just like letting my inner child have a turn every now and then.

It was a fun hour or so, I plan on taking an hour or so each and everyday to let the inner child within me go for it! Yay, for our inner children…Do any of you kind readers agree with me? Think about it and let me know what your thoughts are on this one if you would like to.

I talked to Autumn a short while ago, she simply loved the idea! Also she was so loving hearing about those young girl twinnies. So Autumn is joining me for a time tomorrow for a walk in the park near her house. I am so looking forward to it! The park by her house is a bit bigger than the one near me, think of the possibilities. 🙂 We will let  everyone know how our inner child twinnies do and if you don’t hear from us…Well, we promise we will be back as soon as we can reel in those inner child twinnies! Everyone join us, it’s time to let those inner children loose, Yay! 😉 🙂

Kisses and Hugs

Kisses and hugs

and falling in love

X’s and O’s

a  very lovely pose

Look at us now

time to take a bow?

We’ve danced through the rain

and we’d do it all again

The magic that is us

and so much trust

the times have changed

and have been rearranged

Here we are today

with kisses and hugs

and so much love

we always knew

that as our feelings grew

we’d feel so strong

our love was never wrong

Today we just live happy as can be

you and me

forever free

to say I love you

through and through …

Memories of Hiking With Dad…

I woke up early, it was a beautiful sunshiny weekend day. My mind does its own thing and thoughts and memories just pop into my head at random. Maybe this happens to other people, too and if so you will know what I’m saying. Most of you kind readers know me, so you will go with the flow and continue reading, I hope!

Anyway, I was just remembering all the hikes and trips in the mountains with our Dad. Autumn and I were so blessed to have trips alone hiking and meandering the mountains and all with our Dad. We both miss him still so much, we lost him to evil cancer close to 9 years ago. That makes these wonderful memories just all the more precious. Having been born the oldest of 6 sisters, Autumn and I had a lot of hiking trips alone with just our Dad. Mom kind of stayed behind at our cabin, minding those little sisters.

As they got older, then we all hiked as a family…So many, many times!  But, getting back to the Autumn and me, those hiking trips with Dad. We live only about 8-10 miles from where we usually hiked, so it was fun as well as being close to home. Dad was so patient when we had our first hike, pointing out all the interesting things on and off the trail. So many times we probably got on his nerves answering our wacky questions, but he never complained.

The stops for us Twinnies picking up little rocks that caught our eye, insisting the moss on rocks and trees needed investigating. But we walked and talked and so much joy and wonder as younger Twinnies we had! As we grew older we seemed to have gotten a pattern going, the hikes were fun and amazing, but the talking with Dad was just so awesome. He was a most special one, always ready to discuss just about anything and loving to share laughs, too.

Dad’s laugh, oh my goodness it was one of the most beautiful sounds ever! I remember it and can hear his laughter in my mind, talking it over with Autumn, Mom, our sisters and other family members…So can they! That makes me so happy, he had this contagious and most ear catching and pleasing laugh. It would just make you smile yourself and then join in laughing…Just so joyful, so full of love of life.

The hiking was just a wonderful memory that popped into my head on this fine spring morning. But I realize I am also writing lots of mine and Autumn’s love of our precious Dad. I think sometimes the tears we both have cried over remembering could fill more than a bucket, but that’s OK. Because ,never would we have ever missed one single hiking trip or one moment with our Dad. He was always so watchful and teaching us about good plants, bad plants, looking out for snakes, the balancing of your backpack and just so much more.

Autumn and I are still good hikers to this day, because Dad taught us well. We always had the best of hiking boots, too because that really does matter and any of you that hike know what I’m saying! Anyway, it was a beautiful memory and I guess I just wanted to share it with you kind readers. Thank you for listening and please do share any thoughts or memories of hiking and backpacking if you would like. Autumn and I will be planning our first hike of the springtime together…I can hardly wait! I know for sure Dad will be watching from Heaven and keeping his eye on us, too. 🙂
