When Life Gives You Lemons…

You make lemonade, right? I’m sure everyone has heard this expression, if not just where have you been? I am kidding of course, some of you may not be familiar with it. When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. What if you don’t like lemonade, then what do you do? What if you think lemonade and lemons are just plain yucky or disgusting? It’s something to ponder and I do love pondering and may that never stop! Because pondering is just way too much fun.

I shouldn’t be joking about it, but I can’t seem to help myself! Of course the saying is telling us to take a bad situation and make it positive, look at the bright side when things look bleak and so many other such things. You get the idea, right?

Anyway, I saw this saying on a bumper sticker on a car if front of me at a red light. I hadn’t seen such a bumper sticker in a long time…Yet, there it was! I sat through the red light and looked at the bumper sticker and of course I thought about it later when I got home. That’s what got me thinking of how easy it is to just keep looking at the positive not the negative.

I had to tell Autumn about the bumper sticker and she thought it was interesting. She thought of a really funny thing about the saying and lemons, it cracked me right up, too. That Twinnie really has a good sense of humor I must say and thank goodness. She said if somebody hands you lemons, make a lemon meringue pie and throw it in their face because they are annoying as all get out.

What if you didn’t feel like cheering up and just weren’t in the mood , you know it could happen! It was funny, however did she think of such a thing I asked her. Well Autumn didn’t know, it just popped into her head and she felt the need to share it with me. Therefore, it makes you wonder about this pair of Twinnies sense of humor doesn’t it?

OK, so this bumper sticker thing, we got to talking about those, too. Neither one of us has any bumper stickers on or cars and we were wondering how many of you kind readers have one on your car? It would be fun to hear about what everyone has to say! If not and you don’t feel like sharing…Well, please do give us your opinion of bumper stickers, lemons, lemonade and all that type of thing! 😉 🙂

  1. OMG, I’d take a lemon merengue pie over lemonade any day! but I wouldn’t throw it at them, I would so eat it! 🙂 do you have a good recipe for one?? the one in the photo looks pretty delicious!

    • Lemon meringue pie is really good Roxi and I do love it, too…But I also do like lemonade. I had to laugh about you woudn’t throw the pie, you would eat it instead! 🙂 I wish I had a good receipe for you, but I’m sorry because I don’t. I could never get the meringue to turn out right on the pies, it was pitiful. Autumn and I didn’t make the pie in the picture but it does look very delicious I agree! 🙂

  2. lemon merengue pie will win Gabby…But its such a yum delicious thing to throw on someones face..specially that photo

I dont have any bumpersticker but did see some funny ones
One was when life gives you lemon make an apple juice and keep other people guessing how the hell did she do that
and then another one was when life gives you lemons shout on top of your voice yay i got lemons and confuse life 😆

    • Lemon meringue pie is always a winner, I agree Soma! 🙂 Too delicious to toss in someone’s face…Well, Autumn was in such a silly mood when she thought of that one. I doubt she could follow through with throwing them on anyone, I think! 😉 OMG about the bumper stickers Soma, I am still laughing over those and I just may have to use them sometime! 🙂 Your sense of humor is just so wonderful, you come up with the best ever!! 🙂

  3. Since I really enjoy fresh made lemonade from real lemons on hot summer days, I like that bumper sticker. But I also got a kick out of Autumn’s response to make a lemon meringue pie and throw it in someone’s face. That would be great at one of those fundraiser events where you pay to throw pies at public officials!

    • I also love lemonade on those hot summer days, it has to be made from fresh lemons, I agree! The bumpersticker was nice to see on that car…It sure inspired me. Granbee, I have to say Autumn does have such a wonderful sense of humor to think of this one and it would be great for fundraiser events! 🙂

  4. Gabby,

I have often heard this saying. I love what your sis had to say about the pie. Sound like something I would do! Ty for sharing such a lovely post with us! God Bless 🙂

    • Hi PJ, I’m happy to see you here and hoping that means you are feeling better! 🙂 Thanks for enjoying this post, too. You and Autumn can be tossing those pies PJ, I can just see it now! 😉 God Bless you, too 🙂

      • lol! I have such temper on me, I would rather just throw pies and say something I may regret! It would be beautiful thing to see. I’m not feeling my best, but not going to complain about it! Surpose to be good month for me! God Bless 🙂

        • I am kind of not surprised you have a temper on you PJ, so does Autumn…Mine is just a bit more reserved, but I also do have a temper myself. It just takes more for me to lose it. Now, I am just smiling, laughing and loving the thoughts of you throwing pies and having a good old time of it! lol 🙂 I am sorry you aren’t feeling your best PJ and I will of course keep praying. May is your month and your birthday is so close now, May 21st will be a wonderful and blessed day! 🙂

  5. Gabby, I love lemonade and lemon anything, so love your bumper sticker! I don’t have bumper stickers, but on my front license plate holder, it reads “turn your frown upside down” and the back one reads, “hand over the chocolate and nobody gets hurt!” Now you know more about me! Hee,hee! Great post! xo

    • Yay Lauren, you are with us for loving lemon anything! 🙂 I really did have a good laugh over the back license plate holder…That is just the best! “Hand over the chocolate and nobody gets hurt” is so funny, I just love it! 🙂 Also I love the “turn your frown upside down” because it’s so true of what we should try and do. That was fun finding out your license plate holder secrets! 🙂 xo

  6. Reblogged this on Eclectic Avenue ~ Latest Blog Posts =^..^= and commented:
I just made a gallon of freshly squeezed lemonade. I realized I did not have enough sugar to sweeten to my acquired taste since I am a Sweet Maryland Tea addict 🙂 I found some vanilla flavoring and wala. Then I researched it and found it is a very popular drink. On a added note about pie in the face. I put an entire Key Lime Key West Pie in someone’s face once. He deserved it. But such a waste, it is such a good pie.

    • Thank you so much for reblogging this post, it was so kind of you. 🙂 That sounds like it might really be good the vanilla in lemonade, you are so resourceful! That is too funny about you tossing the key lime pie in that guy’s face! 🙂

What do you think??
