I still don’t understand, I can comment on my own blog, but no one else’s! It has to be Akismet .

Mistaken Identity Strikes Again~ Written By Gabby

I wrote a post a number of months  ago about a guy thinking I was Autumn’s and my sister S. Well, that was a weird and unusual happening since she is 9 years younger than us Twinnies. Also, because he was so persistent about me being sister S until I proved by my ID I wasn’t. That one sure left me shaking my head about people being rather intrusive and just annoying.

This time around, and I still can’t believe it happened again honestly and why me?! This biker guy really did think I was Autumn, he was one of her old boyfriends, too. I was as always minding my own business and leaving a store, in the parking lot and getting into my car. All of a sudden and much to my surprise a guy on a nice Harley cruised up along side my car and getting so close. OMG I was thinking, why is this guy kind of cutting me off from leaving and if I opened my car door to get in I would bump into his Harley. Then I thought… Who in the heck is he, what does he want anyway? Once he took off his helmet I realized it was B, who was way back when one of Autumn’s boyfriends.I should have known, who else would be brave (or foolish) enough to be out cruising about on a Harley in the wintertime?

His greeting made me disgusted which was “How are you pretty lady? Hey, but here you are!” I seriously don’t like that kind of boldness either and think it’s pretty tacky. This made me remember how taken B was with Autumn and kind of over taken, if you know what I’m saying.

I hadn’t known he had moved back to our little hometown, oh but Yay and wait until dear Twinnie heard this news. The funny part is, I was heading over to her house after I left the store so I could tell her very soon! Back to B and his chatting that was getting so on my nerves, before I start digressing. I did inform him right away that oops, but he was speaking to the wrong twin! He did remember me, being with my husband Dave of course and he did extend his sympathies over my loss.

Oh no, now he was looking disappointed as he went on to ask all about Autumn…B really kind of never got over her to hear him tell it. I had a silent chuckle on how I would tease her, because I was sure going to! Leave it to Autumn and our little sister S, they had the way of making these guys never forget them…Those two girls were just plain heartbreakers, weren’t they? But, why did I have to keep running into them?

B was wanting to know if Autumn was single, where did she live and on he went…Sorry I had to be the bearer of bad news. B took the news downright pitifully about her engagement and impending wedding. Thankfully he dropped asking where she lived. I sure was getting way too much information about their old romance, here I thought I had known the whole story, too! According to B, he would hope to see Autumn again since he was divorced and back living in our town…Good luck Autumn! I finally gracefully got away and headed for that Twinnie’s house. I must tell you I kept checking the rearview mirror to see if he was following me because you never know with these kind of guys, the lasting devotion and all!

I got to Autumn’s place and kept smiling as I went off to tease her! How disappointing it was to have Autumn act like our sister S, according to her B was so exaggerating! I tell you kind readers, these heartbreaker sisters of mine…I hope no more old boyfriends mistake me for one of them again! If they do, never fear because I will be sure to report! 😉 🙂

It’s National Popcorn Day! Written by Gabby

It’s another day to be celebrating…Yes again it’s about food! I do just simply love searching these out and totally  love to share! I just can’t help myself because I just love discussing food and want to share my thoughts. Also it’s really fun hearing from all of you kind readers and sure hope you will feel free to share your thoughts. Popcorn is just a wonderful healthy and low-calorie snack food and deserves to have its own special day, don’t you think so? I have another opinion…Did anyone seriously doubt it? I have to confess I usually have more than one I must and do admit to it all! 😉

funny-pictures-happy-national-popcorn-day-cats_thumb[2]

The popcorn has to be hulless and I do mean totally hull free. I am not wanting those stuck in my teeth or risk trashing a filling…Yes, it happened years ago. Sadly it also happened to Autumn, of course we Twinnies have to do it up alike! 🙂 Anyway, we sure learned and it’s not ever happening again because a trip to the dentist every six months is just enough in our opinion. Not that we have evil dentists, but come on kind readers who simply loves rolling into that dentist office? 😉 If so, would Autumn and I would dearly love to hear all about it! 🙂 My goodness but I am once again digressing…Back to popcorn and no more dentist talk. Not a pleasant subject and one I sincerely promise I won’t be doing a post on…No offense to you dentists! 😉

Popcorn is wonderful when airpopped and very light on the sea salt, Autumn and I love it that way. Also, I must confess we do indulge in a bit of butter drizzled on it, too. There are so many ways to enjoy  this treat and I know you kind readers will hopefully have some thoughts and favorites to share. The Twinnies are pretty much purists and don’t much like toppings…We confess to being perhaps boring when it comes to popcorn. Well, those are my thoughts and please do chime in about your likes, dislikes and all about popcorn, it will be interesting to hear everybody’s opinions!  Happy National Popcorn Day! 🙂 🙂

2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

About 55,000 tourists visit Liechtenstein every year. This blog was viewed about 230,000 times in 2012. If it were Liechtenstein, it would take about 4 years for that many people to see it. Your blog had more visits than a small country in Europe!

The Twinnies Take on the Principal~ by Gabby

This is a true story, no matter how obnoxious it sounds…I remember it all too well. When Autumn and I were 5 years old, 4 months shy of our 6th birthday we started first grade. It was a bit early, I know! Here in our area, back when we were this age they didn’t have kindergarten or pre-school. Being a bit advanced for our age, our parents decided to start us in school. It was good in a way, but little did everyone know…We started quite early bucking the system. By all rights, I should be embarrassed to tell this one. Well, I’m not and Autumn agreed with me it was too funny not to share.

OK, we twinnies were excited when we heard about going to school and were all for it. Our Mom and Dad had talked to us all about it, what fun it sounded. Our Mom took us to the first day of our first grade, all was not fine! The principal had talked our Mom into putting us in separate classes, as there was 2 first grade classes. Autumn and I did try and go with the flow, honestly we did. A few minutes after our Mom left we started separately sniffling and tears were flowing. The teachers were busy comforting other students, their mistake.

Neither of our teachers noticed this stunt right away, I am serious. Autumn, the bold twinnie that she is took it upon herself to right this major wrong! Without permission she trotted out of her classroom and into mine, grabbed my hand and off we went! Where you ask? Off to see the principal, of course…Where else! Did we stop and think about being scared for being so gutsy, of course not. We made our way to the principal’s office, not stopping for any teacher who noticed.

The school nurse tried to get us back to our classrooms, too. She had no luck whatsoever! A few of the foolish enough teachers to ask where we were going…Autumn spoke up to them with no fear. That twinnie merely answered, “We are going to see the principal and you can’t stop us!” I know it sounds rude, we weren’t trying to be because we were raised quite well and taught respect. You have to understand, the twinnies were not being separated and that was final. Another answer to a poor teacher from Autumn…”Somebody made a mistake, the principal needs us to talk to him.” Nobody stopped us either, what were they thinking? Maybe that we were harmless and wanted to see the show?

We twinnies reached the principal’s office and got quickly ushered in. Our parents knew this man, our Mom had pointed his office out to us, poor Mom she really wasn’t expecting this to occur, obviously. Mr H. tried to get in the first word…But on we twinnies went with our speech. Telling him how we needed to be in the same classroom. He needed to fix the mistake and we didn’t want to quit first grade but we would if he wasn’t going to listen. Mr. H. called our Mom after calming us down and Yay, we got our way and Mr. H.. had seen our side of the story.

The downside of all this, it was talked about for years to come by the principal, the teachers and the school nurse. Even as adults, they still reminded us…Oh well, it was a small price to pay. Never again did the school try to separate the twinnies! You see, TF <3=Twins Forever had started quite young for us and will remain! 😉 🙂

Pasta Comes in All Shapes and Sizes, What’s Your Fave? by Gabby Angel

I know, what a weird question for me to be pondering on. These are the random thoughts that go through my mind. I never seem to run out of those thoughts it seems. Does anyone else get these thoughts? Would anyone care to leave their opinion, thoughts and all? Come on, let’s talk pasta! As usual inquiring twinnies are wanting to know your favorite pasta shape.

There are so many different shapes of pasta…The possibilities are endless. What got me pondering and wondering was making dinner earlier. My dinner was angel hair pasta with a tomato sauce laced with lots of mushrooms. Angel hair pasta’s real Italian name is capellini and does mean literally angel hair, isn’t that interesting? Angel hair is one of my favorite shapes of pasta, being half Italian Autumn and I were raised on pasta. 🙂 Not that this makes either of us experts, but our favorite shapes are pretty much the same. It may be a “twin thing”, but we both adore angel hair pasta.

So many choices, and no we don’t make our own pasta from scratch anymore by the way. I know, shame on us 😉 Other favorite shapes of pasta, let me just name a few. Lasagna, that’s always fun (and we both make a regular version and also a vegetarian version), spagetti (naturally since that is an original), farfalle (which in Italian means butterfly) the bow tie shaped pasta.

One of our Dad‘s favorite recipe he created was made with farfalle. Sorry to say, it’s a family secret so I won’t be sharing. 😉 Just a few of some of our family’s favorites are also tortellini, cavatelli, fiori (which is a flower-shaped pasta and means flowers), manicotti either stuffed with a ricotta cheese mixture or stuffed with meat. I am always intrigued with what the Italian meaning of some of the pastas are.
One of the more interesting pasta is gemelli, it’s a single S-shaped pasta. Guess what it means in Italian? Twins, that is just the coolest thing and just one of those things I just had to toss into this blog. Because of course as everyone knows (or hopefully does know by now) Autumn and I are twins! 🙂

Oh my goodness, so many pasta shapes…There really are just a multitude of them! Twinnie and I both also favor the spinach flavored pasta once in awhile, it’s very good but of course not for everyone. I could never get my husband Dave to like it, believe me I did try. His favorite was my very own lasagna.
So many years have gone by since helping our Mom make homemade ravioli, it really is fun to make. Mom always makes the homemade version. Again shame on the twinnies, we get ours out of the freezer section. Our Italian Grandma would never have dreamed of strolling to the freezer section! The homemade version was “just the only way” for her. Being a good sport, she never scolded Autumn, me or any other sisters for racing to the freezer section. 🙂 So, as I’ve been rambling on here about different pastas, and I know many, many shapes I never mentioned.
Is this making anyone hungry at all? 😉 Anyone wanting to or care to share your thoughts on favorite pasta shapes? Please do, the twinnies would love to know! 🙂 🙂

Let’s Talk Tattoos! ~ By Gabby Angel

This is quite the subject,  and why I am writing about tattoos?  It was just a simple chat Autumn and I  recently had about tattoos. Who we knew that had gotten a new one, how unique and unusual some of them are. You know, that sort of thing. This is kind of strange, this tattoo stuff… Why, you ask? Because I don’t have any! Guess who does just happen to have 3 of them? Yes, that would happen to be Autumn…The twinnie has 3 very lovely and tasteful tattoos. With her permission, I will reveal what those said tattoos are…Ready?
I sure wish I could make a game of this and make everyone guess, then round up the winner! Well, the twinnie says only one post about her tattoos so I guess it’s time to give the news of what they are. No time for stalling, right? Sorry, I love the suspense of it all and can’t seem to help myself. Drag it out awhile, make you all wait…But that just isn’t very nice, is it? OK, here we go for real…I mean it this time!
Tattoo #1 A Sunshine on her left shoulder, Tattoo #2 Moon and Stars on the right shoulder and #3 Tattoo A rose on her right wrist. Would anyone have guessed those answers? If not, what would your guesses have been? Go ahead, you can tell us Autumn doesn’t mind!
Well, that leads me to myself…Why don’t I have any tattoos? This may sound mighty strange, but I will tell you all why. I am scared of the permanance of one, I tried the temporary ones and they were OK… Because I could remove them myself quite easily! I was tempted to get a henna one, they wear off… But I just couldn’t trust it. A real permanent one may just send me over the edge, so it’s best not to have one. After all, laser surgery is pretty pricey isn’t it? I wanted an angel on my shoulder, but I just couldn’t do it.
Now, it’s time for a question for all of you! Who among you kind readers has a tattoo or tattoos? Some of you may have more, of course. Who is willing to share? Autumn and I are curious, now that we’ve revealed what hers are. If you don’t have any tattoos and never would get one, would you like to share your answer why? It sounds like fun, but if it’s too personal we do understand. You know how we twinnies are, we go with the flow! 🙂 🙂

Earrings…I Never Leave Home Without Them ~By Gabby Angel

I admit it…I am hopelessly addicted to earrings! 🙂 What prompted this thought and this sharing? Well, I set off with several errands to do earlier today and I had forgotten to put in a set of earrings! I have this quirky thing, I don’t feel completely dressed without a pair of earrings. Boring me, I am one of the few who have only one hole pierced in each ear.

Autumn and I had our ears pierced by a favorite Aunt who was a nurse by pro fession. We were 15 years old, a little bit older than some…But our parents wanted to be sure we were old enough to be responsible. Can’t blame them for that…But the beast they unleashed when allowing me my piereced ears! I will confess the twinnie isn’t quite as bad as me with this earring addiction. Even having 3 holes pierced in each of her ears. Me, I am always on the lookout for a new and interestingly different and unusual pair.

I own so many, maybe close to a hundred and fifty last count… way too many to count  for this writing. My husband Dave also was good at finding unusual earrings for me. He sure did add to my collection over the years! Well, as I mentioned I never leave home without my earrings in…I was in a rush earlier and did forget. How does this affect me? I feel not quite pulled together and slightly off. I was only traveling 8 or 9 miles and making only a few stops…I would be OK wouldn’t I? Silently still berating myself for forgetting the earrings I walked into the post office, needing to pick up a package and some stamps. Luckily the postal clerk working was a girl I know, like a guy would understand my tale of woe. 😉 Jan was close to my age, so we had a little chat about my forgotten earrings. Thankfully she knows me, someone else would have thought me completely unbalanced perhaps. Jan reassured me it was going to be OK, but admitted she always looks forward when seeing me of what my earrings of the day would be. They are after all, a signature look for me…I left still feeling unsettled.

I drove up the road for several miles, when off to my right I noticed my favorite craft/gift shop was opened! I would just go in and browse and maybe find a pair of earrings. 🙂 Oh my, am I just slightly neurotic sounding? I hope not, anyway I can’t seem to help myself. 😉 Natalie’s is a cool shop with a little bit of everything and one of my favorite places, run by a very sweet person who I always adore seeing. The bell on her door signaled my arrival and she smiled brightly and we greeted each other with a hug. It had been several weeks since I had stopped in, a bit longer than usual. I told her of the earrings forgotten and she chuckled, Natalie knows well my obsession.

She laughed  saying a pair of earrings had come in the day before and had made her think of me and she had been tempted to call me about them. I must see them of course I said…happily walking with her to the earring display. Before Natalie could point them out, I spotted them…Those were meant for me and calling my name! Long strands of sterling silver with tiny pieces of rose quartz and several hearts, I loved them and must have them and they obviously were destined to be mine. Well within my budget, too…so I put them in my ears immediately and paid for them. Natalie and I chatted for 15-20 minutes and caught up a bit on things happening in our lives. Not exactly a planned stop for me, but I was now calm and back to my serene self. We hugged goodbye and I was grateful to have found Natalies shop open earlier than usual and to have gotten to have a lovely chat with her. As well as picked up my destined earrings!

Back to my car and off to finish my other errands. The rest of my little trip went fine and I was back home before I knew it. Now, I must end this post…I have to go count my earrings! 😉 I am kidding, but by now you are possibly  thinking Autumn is perhaps the more normal twin of the two of us twinnies! 🙂 😉

The Day the Feathers Flew ~ by Gabby Angel

I was finishing making my bed, fluffing up the pillows. When out of nowhere this hilarious memory just popped into my head. As always, my mind is a mystery even to me! It seems almost anything can kick up memories and thoughts. Have any of you ever had a pillow fight? Hopefully you all answered yes, they can be some  real fun can’t they?

The memory that had me laughing was one of Autumn and I at a much younger age. Of course we are too mature now to think of such things. The time period this happened we were maybe ten years old. It was us twinnies and two younger sisters, who started it? Well, the younger sisters of course.

OK, I confess it was Autumn and I. We shared a bedroom the twinnie and I and we had just finished making our beds this particular morning. All nice and tidy they were, too. When in walked the two younger sisters, wanting to show us their dolls and how pretty they had fixed their hair. Well, we twinnies could be nice after all. We gave the little sisters compliments on a good job, and yes their dolls looked very pretty, too.

We were ready to send them on their way after a few minutes. That wasn’t going to happen, the little sisters had sat down on our beds. Oh no, they were settling in and this just wasn’t going to do. So, we tried nicely asking them to leave…that wasn’t working. Next thing Autumn and I knew those little sisters started jumping on our beds. This was forbidden in our house, by the way…One of the rules. Trying to be good big sisters, we told them to stop it or we would go fetch Dad or Mom. This made both of them giggle, that just struck Autumn and I the wrong way. So, what were we to do? Each of us picked up a pillow and gave a litter sister who was jumping on our bed a gentle little whack.

These girls were younger, wouldn’t you think they would just give up and retreat? No, that wasn’t happening, they each grabbed the remaining two pillows. Those little sisters turned on us! They were now giving us little whacks back and soon all pillows were flying wildly. You might have guessed, yes they were feather pillows! Before we knew it one of the pillows split open and feathers were now flying all over the place. We were all giggling up a storm, it was kind of funny to see. Feathers just floating here, there and everywhere. Did we think Dad and Mom wouldn’t hear all this commotion or what?

Dad and Mom came running up the steps and they weren’t laughing either. They looked at all of us, their 4 darling daughters and we all froze in place. We were all in some trouble, we got quite the lecture. Then we all had to pitch in cleaning up the feathers, not a fun job either I have to say. All the while Dad and Mom supervised, until every last feather was picked up. Autumn and I were in the most trouble, we were the oldest after all. We did confess we started in, we were also honest I need to add in our defense. Our punishment was the worst in our eyes. Spending the day being nice to the little sisters and hanging out with them the whole day. It was a Saturday, too and there went any plans we had!

The surprise was…We all got along, had a fun day actually. Little sisters could be nice to hang out with after all. It was the last pillow fight in our house, too I need to add! Hope this brought anyone reading this some childhood pillow fights of your own and maybe a smile or two.
