February is National Wedding Month!

I seriously didn’t know this fact and was rather surprised to hear about this one. February isn’t the warmest of months in our area or a very popular one for those choosing a wedding date. The other surprise was…Dave and I got married on February 5th and we never knew it was National Wedding Month. Well, as some of you kind readers know already that Dave is in Heaven now, losing the battle to evil cancer 9 years ago. So, I can’t actually tell him about this fact in person anyway…But I’ve got a feeling he already knows the news.

Anyway, to be very honest we also didn’t want to get married on Valentine’s Day because seriously everybody aims for that date. Please don’t get me wrong, no offense to all of those who select Valentine’s Day as their wedding day! Dave and me, well we wanted to stand alone and have our wedding date very special and as unique as we were and it was, too. 🙂  Anyway, I was thinking about weddings after reading the fact that its National Wedding Month…Of course inquiring questions kept popping into my head.

Autumn answered one of the questions for me which was thoughtful of her. She said her Darling Man and her will be marrying in one of the warmer months and certainly not on Valentine’s Day or any celebrated holiday. Well, still no date out of the Twinnie and her Darling Man isn’t talking either…They really haven’t set a date yet and that really is the truth of the matter!

How about any of you kind readers thoughts on weddings. It will be fun, chime in with the month you picked to marry. If you haven’t married yet, do you have any particular month in mind? Anybody else marry in this month of February? Do tell please…Sharing is so much fun! 🙂 🙂

Thank A Mailman Day! by Gabby

Go ahead everybody, please just do it! 🙂  On this day of February 4th is when we should seriously thank our mailman…Or to be more politically correct our mail person/ carrier. After all, there are some girls who decided they would like the job of being out and about delivering the mail, too. I have a feeling they rather would be insisting on being called mail person, don’t you? 😉

My goodness, all those brave souls are walking around in all kinds of weather and also dealing with the not so friendly dogs and who knows what else! Six days out of the week they are on the job, just think about it kind readers! That’s a lot of walking and that’s also carrying a heavy mailbag, too. I actually not so long ago had a chat with my mailman, he was spilling the secrets of these neighborhood blocks that surround me.

happy_thank_a_mailman_day_february_4_card-p137511189207561081b2ico_400

I must say, it was a surprise to hear that actually there were a few dogs he’s had run-ins with. Also, I heard about some neighbors who waited and watched that clock( rather impatiently sometimes) for the mail to roll in! He told me that unfortunately sometimes he wasn’t treated kindly…Of course that did make me feel sad for him.

It really is always a surprise and kind of shock to me when people aren’t grateful and behave in a not very good manner for those who are doing a good job and helping us. I have a feeling that makes me rather naive, but I seriously can’t help myself. Autumn is much the same way, we Twinnies are always trying to look on the bright and good side as you kind readers already know. Anyway, I intend to thank my mailman today and everyday I happen to see him…Autumn says she is going to do the same, Yay! Who is with us? Will you kind readers please think about the mail carriers today and give them a big thank you if you do indeed happen to see them? It will make for a lot of smiles and that’s what it really is all about, right? Of course it is! 🙂

Oh I forgot to mention… Just in case you don’t get a chance to ever see your mailman maybe you could leave them a nice little thank you note! It’s just a thought and trust me, it would make for a very kind and thoughtful gesture and just may make their whole day, too! 🙂 🙂

January is National Soup Month! :)

It’s being celebrated all month long…SOUP and it’s National which makes it very, very important! 🙂 What can I say? I really love to celebrate anything and everything as some of you kind readers already know. By the way, so does Autumn…Did anyone doubt it? 😉 We are just fools for anything fun and perhaps sometimes rather silly, too. So I must share this amazing tidbit of news about National Soup Month…Still plenty of days in January left! Who’s going to get cooking?

chicken-soup

Those of us living in the colder temperatures of winter, like us here in PA…We totally just have to embrace the making of soup and any kind you wish to make is just up to you. Make whatever your heart desires and share it, freeze it, eat it and you will be all warm inside and it will spread to your outside, too. Soon we will forget the snow, the cold, the wind and racing to whatever heat source we can find…Try it! What have you got to lose and who doesn’t love soup? Oh no, please don’t tell me someone dislikes a nice bowl of warm homemade soup? Well, it can happen because we all are entirely different of course. If you just don’t like soup you can share of course, you will still be treated kindly because that’s the Twinnie way.

So, for myself I cooked up a huge pot of chicken vegetable soup and shared some, froze some and as a matter of fact just had a nice bowl. Totally yummy and I am warm and happy…See my smile? 🙂 I hear tell Autumn and her darling man made a nice batch of chili yesterday…I am ever so happy they intend to share!

One of the funniest things I heard about was one of my neighbors who hates cooking but loves to eat and was prowling the grocery store section where they sell homemade soup. One of the other neighbors told me she was proudly pawning it off as her own cooking of course because she thinks we all don’t know her secret. I’m not being mean, Mrs Y is just one of those people and you see her and run fast into your house. 😉 She can’t help herself, she just isn’t exactly a very happy camper since her divorce because it was all his fault of course. The kids and grandkids don’t visit enough and when they do it isn’t the right day or time…Well, you kind of get the picture.

Back to soup…Sorry I do digress at times! 😉 Anyway kind readers, please do feel free to discuss and chat about your thoughts and all about soup. Sharing is what it’s all about and besides this set of inquiring Twinnies would love to know…We’ll be waiting! 🙂 🙂

Cheer Up the Lonely Day

This really caught my eye this month, what a lovely thought this day is! I think we all should try to aim for cheering up someone, it shouldn’t be that awfully hard to do. There are some lonely people out there and it’s such a heart warming thought to lift somebody’s spirits today.

Even if we aren’t sure which the lonely people are, how about just cheering up everybody we meet up with today? Just in case, that way everyone is covered and we will have been cheery and nice all day long! Don’t think it’s possible? Yes it is, of course it is but I truly try to do this at all times. So does Autumn, I think at times we are kind of different, in a good way that is. At least that’s what we’ve been hearing for quite a few years now.

I seriously once had a friend tell me I was so nice and sweet it made him sick, I’m not kidding either. Those were his exact words, too! Of course it was a nice compliment,  only after he chuckled and said it really was intended as a compliment for real. At first I was  slightly offended but you had to know the humor I guess because coming from someone else I would have been pretty upset.

Anyway, I’m fairly certain we can all make the best and most of cheering up the lonely, right? Autumn and I sure will be giving it our all and hoping it truly does make a difference for somebody. Any of you kind readers with us on this? Oh please do say yes, the more of us who give this day a whirl the better! Together we can make a difference and today it’s our aim to go out there and cheer up the lonely! 🙂 🙂

Foods Of July

Here it is July already and again it’s time for those National and Celebrated Foods. Well, of course I have to deliver the news as promised, right?  Let’s get down to talking food kind readers and from what I’ve discovered, it’s all pretty good, too! 🙂 There are 8 of them in all this month, so it should be interesting for us to get down to talking food. I am happy to report the National Foods are:1. Blueberries 2. Ice Cream  3.Watermelon and 4.Hot Dogs and the Celebrated Foods are: 1. Pickles 2. Baked Beans 3. Eggplant 4. Lettuce. Does anyone see a little trend developing here, or is it just me?

There seems to be a lot of picnic type food going on and for good reason since it’s summertime and that spells Picnics! I know the lettuce and eggplant aren’t exactly in the picnic category, I think somebody was thinking gardens on those two. But they are good and you can take them on picnics if you want to, a bit out of the ordinary perhaps but there are no rules! Salads are always good anytime is my opinion and lettuce rocks! 🙂

Eggplant parmesan is so much a favorite of both Autumn and me, eggplant really does get two thumbs up from the both of us in general. I have a feeling some of you just might not share our love for this vegetable, love it or hate it…Do share! The ice cream making it in the national foods isn’t exactly picnic food, but who doesn’t  simply love ice cream? Hopefully the answer will be nobody! Please don’t tell me some of you kind readers aren’t ice cream fans, I will be disappointed and surprised. But everyone does have their own individual tastes and all, right? So, if you aren’t an ice cream lover speak right up…But do tell us why for heaven’s sake! 😉 I am so thinking of ice cream I may just have to get a small dish when I finish writing this post, I kid you not! So many flavors, so little time is what I say. 🙂

Anyway, all in all the foods for July have just been so much joy for me to share with all of you. Not really a bad one in the bunch again this month, although to be honest I don’t eat hot dogs and either does Autumn, it has to do with the not eating of most meats.

Please do give these 8 foods some thoughts and do share your opinions, likes and dislikes…It will  be fun! Catch up with me in August for the foods of that month, too because I will be here and happy to report them all. I sure hope you enjoyed reading this post and yes you guessed it…I must go for now because the ice cream in my freezer is calling my name! 😉 🙂

National Strawberry Sundae Day and More

Here we are, July 7th and it’s a day to celebrate the goodness of the strawberry sundae! 🙂 Well, that’s a lovely thing and in these hot days of summer I think we all need to have one! If you don’t like strawberries, then choose another flavor…It’s allowed since I just made up that rule! It doesn’t hurt to change the rules a little bit every now and then, right? Hopefully the creator of National Strawberry Sundae Day doesn’t get upset with me changing up the rules just a tiny bit, no need for them to know actually. We will keep it among ourselves, won’t we kind readers? 😉 I love strawberries, so does Autumn of course but we also love all flavors when it comes to having a sundae…Well, because ice cream just is awesome to the both of us Twinnies! 🙂

If you don’t like strawberries, please do feel free to share your personal own favorite and have a sundae of your choice! We won’t be spilling the news to the creator of this day after all! 😉 The other really good news about today, July 7th is that it is also Chocolate Day! How cool is that I ask you? I have a good feeling there will be many of us celebrating that fact alone! 🙂 Who doesn’t like chocolate? I sure am hoping the answer is nobody…Come on, what’s there not to just simply love about chocolate in any shape, flavor or form? I think I will be having a strawberry sundae to celebrate the day and why not have some chocolate, too…It’s a day to indulge in my own humble opinion! 🙂 What do you know, Autumn says she is in complete agreement with this idea, Yay! She thinks we could have a scoop of chocolate ice cream on the side maybe, I love Autumn’s way of thinking! 🙂

Do we Twinnies know how to celebrate this day or what? Is anyone with us? Time to tell us all about it kind readers…Please do share! Strawberry Sundae Day and Chocolate Day all on the same day, Wow but those possibilities are just endless! 🙂 Let’s just all do see fit to celebrate in style and have fun, enjoy the day and don’t be left out for goodness sake! 😉 🙂

Get Well Fast Gabby!!!!

I wanted to post and let everyone know, Gabby had minor surgery this afternoon. She is of course, having some discomfort, but she will be fine.

Gabby will be back in a couple of days if all goes well.  Since I’m her Twinnie,  she and I  wanted you all to know what’s going on and not have to wonder,  “where is Gabby” .  She’s not off on vacation, that would be way more fun.

Gabby told me to tell all the kind readers Hello 🙂 She is so thoughtful of others!

love,

Autumn

Foods of June

Wow! But June does have enough foods that are National and Celebrated…Hope all you kind readers are ready! 🙂 First of all I have to say the foods are all pretty good and I am wondering what everyone will think of these choices. We have 9 in all this month of June which did kind of surprise me, too…

Well, we will have more foods to talk about anyway and also perhaps be running off to our kitchens! 🙂 The monthly celebrated foods are 1. Corn, 2. Cucumbers, 3. Lemons, 4. Mango. They are all good and no complaint from either me or Autumn, how about all of you? Please do share your thoughts on the celebrated foods if you would.

Now, we come to the National foods 1. Candy, 2. Fruit and Veggies, ( I know, the celebrated foods fall in that category, too!) 3. Iced Tea, 4. Frozen Yogurt, 5. Seafood. I can’t believe these choices for June, I am hungry just writing about them I must say! 🙂 I did get a bit of a chuckle out of the Candy being on the list, I do believe we are supposed to enjoy that one in moderation though.

I really do love peppermint patties and peanut butter cups and so does Autumn, of course we like a bunch of others but we don’t need a big old list here, do we? So, for the sake of a normal sized post we will limit it to those two! 😉 Feel free please to share your favorite candy, we Twinnies would love to hear all about it! 🙂

Frozen Yogurt, that is just wonderful in Autumn’s and my opinion and perfect for these hot months of summer, right? We both really do love fruit and veggies, too and I am sure there are a lot of you that are with us…I hope so anyway because they are good for us all! 🙂 Salads with all kinds of veggies sounds awfully good to me right now and I think I will have to make one after I am done writing the foods of the month of June, seriously I mean it.

Wonder if it’s OK  to have some Candy or Frozen Yogurt after that healthy salad? Sure, why not is what I believe is the right answer! 🙂 Seafood, both Autumn and I love most of it except for calamari…Because squid is just yucky. Does anyone really like it! I know someone certainly must because there are a couple of them in our family who like it. How that ever did happen is beyond me and I need to say, it only proves how we are all different after all and one of those calamari lovers are married into the family. I just can’t talk about it any longer because I will lose my appetite for that salad!

Iced tea is also such a good drink and you can put all kind of sweeteners in it, too but I have to be honest I like mine with just a bit of honey. Autumn is the same way and that shouldn’t surprise anyone all that much should it? Anyway, there we have it for this month of June..all these yummy foods! 🙂 Please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and all if you would like, too since sharing is always fun. Let’s do talk food kind readers!! 🙂 🙂

National Pizza Party Day

What an amazing day…Today, May 18th is National Pizza Party Day! I am so loving this one and plan on celebrating with throwing a good old pizza party, Yay for pizza! It has got to be one of the best foods to be found, who doesn’t love pizza? Please don’t tell me there really is somebody out there who dislikes pizza! Really…Don’t tell me if it’s so, I am kidding of course. If somebody dislikes pizza, so be it because we are all different. Everyone has a right to like, dislike or even detest pizza, right? I just find it hard to believe though, so please do forgive my questioning this fact.

Both Autumn and I totally love, love, love pizza! We like it with different toppings, we like it warm and we have also been known to eat it cold for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! So, we are loving this day and will be celebrating in style…We just simply have to! It would be a disgrace not to acknowledge this National Pizza Party Day and not thoroughly embrace this day. Who among you kind readers is with us? Anyone planning on having a pizza party? It can be a pizza party for one if you don’t feel like company. Do share if you are busy making plans, you are among friends here and we need to unite if we love our pizza! You can just have a fine time of it all…A whole day of pizza party fun!

When we were growing up and throughout most of our lives at home we Twinnies were blessed with homemade pizza. Our Dad and Mom were the best pizza makers ever, we had a pizza day at least once or twice a month. We still get together for a pizza day as a family…Just not as often as we would like. We are all finally living here in Pennsylvania, but life does unfortunately get busy. When we do get together for those pizza party days we do it with such gusto and really do have a great time. I am also happy to report there is nobody who doesn’t like pizza among our big family, thank goodness…Even the kids love it and all those brave men that are hitched up with the sisters love it, too. Of course, Dave is no longer here on earth, but my husband did simply love pizza, too. Our Dad, who also is in Heaven, probably throws the best of pizza parties of all I bet! Anyway, I just had to share the news about today…Happy National Pizza Party Day to everyone! 🙂 🙂

When Life Gives You Lemons…

You make lemonade, right? I’m sure everyone has heard this expression, if not just where have you been? I am kidding of course, some of you may not be familiar with it. When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. What if you don’t like lemonade, then what do you do? What if you think lemonade and lemons are just plain yucky or disgusting? It’s something to ponder and I do love pondering and may that never stop! Because pondering is just way too much fun.

I shouldn’t be joking about it, but I can’t seem to help myself! Of course the saying is telling us to take a bad situation and make it positive, look at the bright side when things look bleak and so many other such things. You get the idea, right?

Anyway, I saw this saying on a bumper sticker on a car if front of me at a red light. I hadn’t seen such a bumper sticker in a long time…Yet, there it was! I sat through the red light and looked at the bumper sticker and of course I thought about it later when I got home. That’s what got me thinking of how easy it is to just keep looking at the positive not the negative.

I had to tell Autumn about the bumper sticker and she thought it was interesting. She thought of a really funny thing about the saying and lemons, it cracked me right up, too. That Twinnie really has a good sense of humor I must say and thank goodness. She said if somebody hands you lemons, make a lemon meringue pie and throw it in their face because they are annoying as all get out.

What if you didn’t feel like cheering up and just weren’t in the mood , you know it could happen! It was funny, however did she think of such a thing I asked her. Well Autumn didn’t know, it just popped into her head and she felt the need to share it with me. Therefore, it makes you wonder about this pair of Twinnies sense of humor doesn’t it?

OK, so this bumper sticker thing, we got to talking about those, too. Neither one of us has any bumper stickers on or cars and we were wondering how many of you kind readers have one on your car? It would be fun to hear about what everyone has to say! If not and you don’t feel like sharing…Well, please do give us your opinion of bumper stickers, lemons, lemonade and all that type of thing! 😉 🙂
