Where we’ve been …

We have been away from blogging over three and a half months this time around. Little did either of us know what these three months would hold, it has been scary, sad and life changing. Lessons learned and circumstances we are choosing not to share at this time. Please, understand this is not meant to be rude, uncaring or unfeeling to any of you still reading. Life is precious and short and health, family and love are definitely first…Always.  We both want to say we have missed you kind readers and friends and truly appreciate you all and how we were welcomed in this blogging world. With all that has gone on and is still happening, we both have agreed that we are very uncertain about returning to Word Press. All we as “Twins Forever” want you all to know that if we are unable to return is… Thank You to each and every one of you for taking the time to read our words and get to know us. God Bless you all…

Thank A Mailman Day! by Gabby

Go ahead everybody, please just do it! 🙂  On this day of February 4th is when we should seriously thank our mailman…Or to be more politically correct our mail person/ carrier. After all, there are some girls who decided they would like the job of being out and about delivering the mail, too. I have a feeling they rather would be insisting on being called mail person, don’t you? 😉

My goodness, all those brave souls are walking around in all kinds of weather and also dealing with the not so friendly dogs and who knows what else! Six days out of the week they are on the job, just think about it kind readers! That’s a lot of walking and that’s also carrying a heavy mailbag, too. I actually not so long ago had a chat with my mailman, he was spilling the secrets of these neighborhood blocks that surround me.

I must say, it was a surprise to hear that actually there were a few dogs he’s had run-ins with. Also, I heard about some neighbors who waited and watched that clock( rather impatiently sometimes) for the mail to roll in! He told me that unfortunately sometimes he wasn’t treated kindly…Of course that did make me feel sad for him.

It really is always a surprise and kind of shock to me when people aren’t grateful and behave in a not very good manner for those who are doing a good job and helping us. I have a feeling that makes me rather naive, but I seriously can’t help myself. Autumn is much the same way, we Twinnies are always trying to look on the bright and good side as you kind readers already know. Anyway, I intend to thank my mailman today and everyday I happen to see him…Autumn says she is going to do the same, Yay! Who is with us? Will you kind readers please think about the mail carriers today and give them a big thank you if you do indeed happen to see them? It will make for a lot of smiles and that’s what it really is all about, right? Of course it is! 🙂

Oh I forgot to mention… Just in case you don’t get a chance to ever see your mailman maybe you could leave them a nice little thank you note! It’s just a thought and trust me, it would make for a very kind and thoughtful gesture and just may make their whole day, too! 🙂 🙂

It’s National Popcorn Day! Written by Gabby

It’s another day to be celebrating…Yes again it’s about food! I do just simply love searching these out and totally  love to share! I just can’t help myself because I just love discussing food and want to share my thoughts. Also it’s really fun hearing from all of you kind readers and sure hope you will feel free to share your thoughts. Popcorn is just a wonderful healthy and low-calorie snack food and deserves to have its own special day, don’t you think so? I have another opinion…Did anyone seriously doubt it? I have to confess I usually have more than one I must and do admit to it all! 😉

The popcorn has to be hulless and I do mean totally hull free. I am not wanting those stuck in my teeth or risk trashing a filling…Yes, it happened years ago. Sadly it also happened to Autumn, of course we Twinnies have to do it up alike! 🙂 Anyway, we sure learned and it’s not ever happening again because a trip to the dentist every six months is just enough in our opinion. Not that we have evil dentists, but come on kind readers who simply loves rolling into that dentist office? 😉 If so, would Autumn and I would dearly love to hear all about it! 🙂 My goodness but I am once again digressing…Back to popcorn and no more dentist talk. Not a pleasant subject and one I sincerely promise I won’t be doing a post on…No offense to you dentists! 😉

Popcorn is wonderful when airpopped and very light on the sea salt, Autumn and I love it that way. Also, I must confess we do indulge in a bit of butter drizzled on it, too. There are so many ways to enjoy  this treat and I know you kind readers will hopefully have some thoughts and favorites to share. The Twinnies are pretty much purists and don’t much like toppings…We confess to being perhaps boring when it comes to popcorn. Well, those are my thoughts and please do chime in about your likes, dislikes and all about popcorn, it will be interesting to hear everybody’s opinions!  Happy National Popcorn Day! 🙂 🙂

Another Year Older…

Oh my goodness, but the last year went by rather quickly! How does that happen anyway? Lately I’ve been wondering if dear Autumn’s magic has been at work! 😉 Makes you think about all the fairies and magical creatures she has around, doesn’t it? 😉 So kind readers, Autumn and I are now one year older. But it’s OK since age is only a number, right? Of course it is, the close you get to the once dreaded numerical age the more it  only just gets better.

keep-calm-because-its-the-twins-birthday

So, this little post isn’t really about our birthday and begging for attention. Did any of you kind readers think we were like that? 😉 Hopefully that answer is…Of course you didn’t! The funny thing is, we both have been told for years that we never looked our real age. That is such a blessing and it sure saves lying our ages! 😉 🙂  I’m kidding of course! It’s a time for these Twinnies to just be reflecting on the last 365 days and how and what’s gone on. How we have learned those life’s lessons and all, how to make this year only better. To the best of our ability of course, since we can’t control unexpected events.

I have a secret to spill, too! 🙂 Autumn is planning a big year, her engagement will be turning into a wedding I hear tell. The date is top-secret 😉 I’m kidding they haven’t set it but we will keep  you all posted, never fear. Anyway, this is where we need to ask you kind readers a question! Do you embrace your birthday, how do you celebrate and also what thoughts do you have? Come on, it’s time to share…Humor the birthday girls! 😉 🙂

International Gourmet Coffee Month is Now!

It’s here, it’s finally here…Yay and Hooray! I love this whole vibe like crazy…An entire month set aside to celebrate COFFEE!! 🙂 🙂  A whole month to enjoy this ever so very popular beverage so many of us adore. Come on kind readers…Who is loving this special month and raising their mugs? I have a good feeling it’s quite a few and think about it…All over the world this is a month known by millions. I do so hope some of you have heard of International Gourmet Coffee Month already…But if not now you do know! 🙂

mug07\

Just always do remember try to pace yourselves this month and don’t go real wild and crazy please! 😉  We can’t over do and find ourselves literally bouncing off the walls and all…We could end up wide awake for simply days or maybe the whole rest of the month! Think of the friends and family that won’t be smiling over that one, as they try to put up with the over caffeinated selves of what this month will have turned us into. 😉 I for one will be celebrating sensibly as always and of course since it’s technically “Gourmet Coffee” Month I will make sure to enjoy some of the world’s finest.

untitled-2

Anyway, Autumn is now into drinking coffee since we got into making some of our own wonderful iced coffee mixtures this past summer. The Twinnie does limit herself to maybe just a couple of mugs a day…I know she pushes it to maybe three once in a while and that’s all she admits to. I find it best not to quiz her down about it all, but thank goodness that darling man of hers has shared! He is surely a keeper I say…He shares! 🙂 So there you have it kind readers let’s all who love and cherish coffee celebrate in style and with a smile all month-long! 🙂 🙂

January is National Soup Month! :)

It’s being celebrated all month long…SOUP and it’s National which makes it very, very important! 🙂 What can I say? I really love to celebrate anything and everything as some of you kind readers already know. By the way, so does Autumn…Did anyone doubt it? 😉 We are just fools for anything fun and perhaps sometimes rather silly, too. So I must share this amazing tidbit of news about National Soup Month…Still plenty of days in January left! Who’s going to get cooking?

chicken-soup

Those of us living in the colder temperatures of winter, like us here in PA…We totally just have to embrace the making of soup and any kind you wish to make is just up to you. Make whatever your heart desires and share it, freeze it, eat it and you will be all warm inside and it will spread to your outside, too. Soon we will forget the snow, the cold, the wind and racing to whatever heat source we can find…Try it! What have you got to lose and who doesn’t love soup? Oh no, please don’t tell me someone dislikes a nice bowl of warm homemade soup? Well, it can happen because we all are entirely different of course. If you just don’t like soup you can share of course, you will still be treated kindly because that’s the Twinnie way.

So, for myself I cooked up a huge pot of chicken vegetable soup and shared some, froze some and as a matter of fact just had a nice bowl. Totally yummy and I am warm and happy…See my smile? 🙂 I hear tell Autumn and her darling man made a nice batch of chili yesterday…I am ever so happy they intend to share!

IMG_8307

One of the funniest things I heard about was one of my neighbors who hates cooking but loves to eat and was prowling the grocery store section where they sell homemade soup. One of the other neighbors told me she was proudly pawning it off as her own cooking of course because she thinks we all don’t know her secret. I’m not being mean, Mrs Y is just one of those people and you see her and run fast into your house. 😉 She can’t help herself, she just isn’t exactly a very happy camper since her divorce because it was all his fault of course. The kids and grandkids don’t visit enough and when they do it isn’t the right day or time…Well, you kind of get the picture.

Back to soup…Sorry I do digress at times! 😉 Anyway kind readers, please do feel free to discuss and chat about your thoughts and all about soup. Sharing is what it’s all about and besides this set of inquiring Twinnies would love to know…We’ll be waiting! 🙂 🙂

2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

About 55,000 tourists visit Liechtenstein every year. This blog was viewed about 230,000 times in 2012. If it were Liechtenstein, it would take about 4 years for that many people to see it. Your blog had more visits than a small country in Europe!

Vacation for the Twinnies :)

Hi to everyone!  Gabby and I wanted to let you all know that we are both on vacation.  We’ll be back with new and very fun “stuff”.  We just need a break and this will be perfect weather for it.

We miss you all and hope you are having a great week so far.  Hmm, well sometimes Mondays aren’t too good!

Hugs,

Gabby and Autumn

Late Night Thunderstorm

When I fell asleep I had no idea I would be woken up with loud crashing, an exciting light show of lots of lightning and just one wild thunderstorm. Wow, but it was loud and that rain was really coming down like crazy. I raced to the windows and got them shut, but hung out enjoying the sights…I love those thunderstorms. Some of you kind readers may perhaps be thinking I am a bit of a nut, but others have to enjoy these storms. If so, please do speak up and share your love of summer storms.

It reminded me of the thunderstorms when we were kids, at first they seemed scary. Being blessed with a Dad and Mom who turned those storms into fun! It sounds silly, and I don’t know how many parents told their kids this same story. It was started so early on with Autumn and me since we are the oldest of 6 girls…I so love the story. Even as a grownup I will always remember Dad and Mom telling us God decided furniture needed to be moved about in Heaven.

OK, that explained the crashes of thunder, right? Well, how did they explain the lightning to us? It was big, big night lights so everybody could see what and where they were moving the furniture of course! Why could we see it on earth both of us young Twinnies had to ask. That was explained as God thought it was nice to share the sights and sounds with his children here on earth. Wasn’t it nice he thought of all of us, and it was nothing to fear. It worked for Autumn and me, then our younger sisters and we thought it quite interesting as well as exciting.

I have heard other people who got told this story that our parents told, I have it on good authority that this story is still being told to the young kids. I have to say I love it, it saves so much stress on the fear factor! I sure wish everybody grew up with this thunderstorm story because sadly I have known friends who just shudder and shake over any thunderstorms. They hate the lightning the worst and jump out of their skins when the thunder starts. That just makes me sad, I don’t like the thoughts of anyone having fear or anxiety.

How about you kind readers? Do you like thunderstorms or do you just kind of deal with the whole thing until it all passes? I have to ask of course, because it’s what I tend to do…I ask a lot of questions! Autumn was curious to know about you kind readers thoughts on this subject, too. So, I’m not alone in my curiosity which is a nice thing as always…Inquiring twins just want to know! I enjoyed my thunderstorm of late last night while Autumn slept her way through it, go figure!

Marching to the Beat of Your Own Drummer

I’ve been known to take this term to a whole other level at times. But, it’s OK since we are all different and we have to do it our way, right? Surely we can’t all be alike, that would make life so awfully boring! I will tell all of you kind readers a secret…Autumn marches to the beat of her own drummer, too! Did  anyone really doubt that for a minute?

Anyway, I was thinking over this phrase and wondering how many people really choose to conform just to be accepted more easily. You know what I’m saying, they just don’t want to call attention to the individuality that is in each of us. Well, come on…That just isn’t good either! We all need to be ourselves and just have a joyful time of doing so is my opinion!

I have been known to dance in the rain (Autumn loves doing this herself), lead a spur of the moment parade around the block one time with a few friends (this was done with Autumn by the way who was co-leading), and the neighbors so dearly loved this one!

I sometimes sing loudly in the middle of a store by mistake. Well, this happens when I get carried away when hearing a favorite song and Autumn has also joined in or started this one all by herself. Rode our chosen merry go round horses like princesses waving to all who were watching. I know, all kids do that you may be thinking to yourselves…But this was just last week! These are just a few examples, but there’s more of course.

Oh, I almost forgot  one really fun time Autumn and I crawled out on a roof to star gaze and how exciting it was, too. Until our Dad happened to notice what we were doing and hustled us back inside, we were only young teenagers and thought it was fun what can I say? Dad didn’t agree of course, since it wasn’t the wisest of moves in safety. It was better to wait until we had our houses to go stargazing on the roof, try it sometime because it’s really exciting fun.

I  think I better keep it to myself about any more of the Twinnies examples of how we do have given it a whirl quite often, this marching to the beat of our very own drummer thing. Lest you kind readers start worrying about our sanity, unique ways and all. Yeah, right…Like that’s ever stopped me before! How many of you kind readers have fun and exciting things you have done when doing your own thing? Please do share, but only if you’d like to! It was just a passing thought today and I just had to write a little post about marching to the beat of our drummer. I just couldn’t resist, it seemed a pretty awesome topic to chat about. I do hope all of you have a grand time marching to the beat of your own drummer.

Please, please…Do not let anyone stop you! March on is what Autumn and I have to say! 🙂 🙂
