Vacation for the Twinnies :)

Hi to everyone!  Gabby and I wanted to let you all know that we are both on vacation.  We’ll be back with new and very fun “stuff”.  We just need a break and this will be perfect weather for it.

We miss you all and hope you are having a great week so far.  Hmm, well sometimes Mondays aren’t too good!

Hugs,

Gabby and Autumn

Late Night Thunderstorm

When I fell asleep I had no idea I would be woken up with loud crashing, an exciting light show of lots of lightning and just one wild thunderstorm. Wow, but it was loud and that rain was really coming down like crazy. I raced to the windows and got them shut, but hung out enjoying the sights…I love those thunderstorms. Some of you kind readers may perhaps be thinking I am a bit of a nut, but others have to enjoy these storms. If so, please do speak up and share your love of summer storms.

It reminded me of the thunderstorms when we were kids, at first they seemed scary. Being blessed with a Dad and Mom who turned those storms into fun! It sounds silly, and I don’t know how many parents told their kids this same story. It was started so early on with Autumn and me since we are the oldest of 6 girls…I so love the story. Even as a grownup I will always remember Dad and Mom telling us God decided furniture needed to be moved about in Heaven.

OK, that explained the crashes of thunder, right? Well, how did they explain the lightning to us? It was big, big night lights so everybody could see what and where they were moving the furniture of course! Why could we see it on earth both of us young Twinnies had to ask. That was explained as God thought it was nice to share the sights and sounds with his children here on earth. Wasn’t it nice he thought of all of us, and it was nothing to fear. It worked for Autumn and me, then our younger sisters and we thought it quite interesting as well as exciting.

I have heard other people who got told this story that our parents told, I have it on good authority that this story is still being told to the young kids. I have to say I love it, it saves so much stress on the fear factor! I sure wish everybody grew up with this thunderstorm story because sadly I have known friends who just shudder and shake over any thunderstorms. They hate the lightning the worst and jump out of their skins when the thunder starts. That just makes me sad, I don’t like the thoughts of anyone having fear or anxiety.

How about you kind readers? Do you like thunderstorms or do you just kind of deal with the whole thing until it all passes? I have to ask of course, because it’s what I tend to do…I ask a lot of questions! Autumn was curious to know about you kind readers thoughts on this subject, too. So, I’m not alone in my curiosity which is a nice thing as always…Inquiring twins just want to know! I enjoyed my thunderstorm of late last night while Autumn slept her way through it, go figure!

Marching to the Beat of Your Own Drummer

I’ve been known to take this term to a whole other level at times. But, it’s OK since we are all different and we have to do it our way, right? Surely we can’t all be alike, that would make life so awfully boring! I will tell all of you kind readers a secret…Autumn marches to the beat of her own drummer, too! Did  anyone really doubt that for a minute?

Anyway, I was thinking over this phrase and wondering how many people really choose to conform just to be accepted more easily. You know what I’m saying, they just don’t want to call attention to the individuality that is in each of us. Well, come on…That just isn’t good either! We all need to be ourselves and just have a joyful time of doing so is my opinion!

I have been known to dance in the rain (Autumn loves doing this herself), lead a spur of the moment parade around the block one time with a few friends (this was done with Autumn by the way who was co-leading), and the neighbors so dearly loved this one!

I sometimes sing loudly in the middle of a store by mistake. Well, this happens when I get carried away when hearing a favorite song and Autumn has also joined in or started this one all by herself. Rode our chosen merry go round horses like princesses waving to all who were watching. I know, all kids do that you may be thinking to yourselves…But this was just last week! These are just a few examples, but there’s more of course.

Oh, I almost forgot  one really fun time Autumn and I crawled out on a roof to star gaze and how exciting it was, too. Until our Dad happened to notice what we were doing and hustled us back inside, we were only young teenagers and thought it was fun what can I say? Dad didn’t agree of course, since it wasn’t the wisest of moves in safety. It was better to wait until we had our houses to go stargazing on the roof, try it sometime because it’s really exciting fun.

I  think I better keep it to myself about any more of the Twinnies examples of how we do have given it a whirl quite often, this marching to the beat of our very own drummer thing. Lest you kind readers start worrying about our sanity, unique ways and all. Yeah, right…Like that’s ever stopped me before! How many of you kind readers have fun and exciting things you have done when doing your own thing? Please do share, but only if you’d like to! It was just a passing thought today and I just had to write a little post about marching to the beat of our drummer. I just couldn’t resist, it seemed a pretty awesome topic to chat about. I do hope all of you have a grand time marching to the beat of your own drummer.

Please, please…Do not let anyone stop you! March on is what Autumn and I have to say! 🙂 🙂

Meteor Watch Day is Here!

Wait a second, shouldn’t that be night? Yes indeed, this day should be called Meteor Watch Night…We need to rename it at once! Because, even if you tried as hard as you could, it would be impossible to find a meteor during the daytime! It is a kind of fascinating day/night though, isn’t it? A whole day/night devoted to the searching of the skies to catch a glimpse  of a shooting star.

Also called by some people as a falling star or meteor burst, a bright trail in the sky…Call it what you may! There is just something quite magical about the whole deal is what I think. Watching, waiting and looking to see that shooting star in the sky…Because then, Yay you get to make a wish! Everyone knows that, right? Wishes on shooting stars are among the long list of fun things in my opinion to wish upon. Not saying the wishes will come true of course, but you just have to give it a whirl just in case.

There were more than a few times I have witnessed a shooting star when my husband Dave and I were hanging out, he laughed as I wished! He thought it was so cute of me wishing on fallen debris from space as he called it, he did humor me and also made a wish once or twice.

I was talking to Autumn about this Meteor Watch Day thing and she of course thought it was quite awesome, too. The Twinnie says she and her darling man will hang out on the deck for a spell and watch the night sky to try to spot a falling star of their own! Well, that was good news to hear and I am hoping they see one!

How about any of you kind readers? Will you be out looking for your very own shooting star or do you perhaps think it’s just another silly day? Do share if you’d like, your thoughts and all are always welcomed! I feel pretty lucky myself, I am aiming to see one and make a wish! 🙂 🙂

Happy National Fairy Day

Wow, those cute little fairies have their own special day! 🙂 Yes indeed, those magical fairies that Autumn loves to write about and honor, Yay! The fairies are dancing and twirling and just plain honored at this special day made for them all I hear. Autumn is one happy Twinnie today, she has been smiling and celebrating like crazy…You would have thought she designated the day herself! 😉

For all who just love those fairies, from Tinkerbell to all the fairies in the whole world will embrace this day! 🙂 I know I do and I really love fairies and yes, I do clap because I believe in them…You already know Autumn claps, too! Remember that line in the movie Peter Pan…Clap your hands if you believe in fairies. I hope you are all clapping, clap harder if you can kind readers so we can hear you! 😉 🙂

It’s too much fun, I keep smiling myself just thinking about it, because it’s such a lovely idea. I’m not sure how it all started, who started it and all but did they ever designate one awesome day. The fairies pave the way for everyone to smile, maybe dance and just love all things magical, mystical and mysterious! We have our Fairy Godmother, the garden fairies, the fairies come in all sizes, too! We have the fairies who do this and that, whatever you may need  and guard and protect. I don’t want us to forget the much-needed Tooth Fairy… Flying here and there. She collects all those precious baby teeth that are lovingly placed under pillows, put in trinket boxes and all and money is left behind to make the little boys and girls content at parting with those baby teeth. So many wonderful and happy things all these fairies do! Bestowing amazing things and magical acts…Autumn has told me all about them so I know these things, Yay Autumn! 🙂

Fairies have their own day, they sure do need to be celebrated and we Twinnies are embracing the day and overjoyed. Make a wish, it just may come true today of all days…It doesn’t hurt to give it a whirl! Oh, Autumn reminded me to tell you…Don’t you dare forget to clap because the fairies have to know you certainly do believe! 🙂 🙂

Get Well Fast Gabby!!!!

I wanted to post and let everyone know, Gabby had minor surgery this afternoon. She is of course, having some discomfort, but she will be fine.

Gabby will be back in a couple of days if all goes well.  Since I’m her Twinnie,  she and I  wanted you all to know what’s going on and not have to wonder,  “where is Gabby” .  She’s not off on vacation, that would be way more fun.

Gabby told me to tell all the kind readers Hello 🙂 She is so thoughtful of others!

love,

Autumn

A Case of Mistaken Identity

What an enticing title this is if I do say so myself!  OK maybe not, but  this is the best title I could come up with for this very strange happening. First I do need to state, I think I really dislike shopping without Autumn and I am never going anywhere without her again! Of course I am kidding since she can’t be with me everytime I venture out there in the shopping world. But she handles these wacky things so much better than me.

There I was in a department type store, shopping and minding my own business and looking at greeting cards. That would finish up my shopping and then I could be on my way. Well, I was going to slowed down because I was suddenly approached by a stranger in the form of some guy who was just plain overjoyed to see me! Here’s where the mistaken identity comes in, and no this guy wasn’t mistaking me for Autumn…He was calling me by one of our younger sisters names.

The funny part is sister S is 9 years younger than us Twinnies and I seriously don’t know or would never remember who all her friends, etc. were/are. Plus, what a nice compliment to be mistaken for a younger sister, right? Well, kind of except this guy was having a hard time believing I wasn’t S and that was somewhat interesting and annoying. He started telling me how he remembered me dumping him after only 3 dates and on he went, it got just a bit amusing as I heard all about S and his never forgetting her.

That sister S was quite the heartbreaker in her dating days, but my goodness she sure must have stomped on this guy’s heart only after 3 dates! I am not kidding how hard it was to shut him up either and convince him once and for all I wasn’t sister S! I finally stopped him in his tracks by pulling out my ID! His face sure got red as he quickly started apologizing tripping over the words, “You are one of the twins and I can’t believe I thought you were S and I knew she had a bunch of sisters”, etc., etc…You get the idea. Thankfully, he left in a hurry after telling me his name and asking me to tell her he said hi.

Oh, you just better believe I would tell sister S all about it as soon as possible. She is happily married with 2 kids, but I just had to know the story of their 3 dates. Here’s the kicker, first S couldn’t remember him and it took her some thinking to recall the guy at all! So no big story, but she did think it was cool he still thought so highly of her, oh sister S and that tiny streak of drama she has! So, there you have it…Case of mistaken identity and the weirdest thing of my solo bout of shopping. Yes, Autumn was missed because that Twinnie would have handled it much better. On a sidenote… She did have a good time of it teasing sister S though! 😉 🙂
