Letters to Santa… ~ By Gabby Angel

That’s the latest Christmas thought! I know what made me decide to write this one…Autumn and I were talking about this subject. Why you ask? Because the twinnies get on all kinds of subjects when chatting! I’m sure any who usually reads is aware of that, right? We really did get some laughs out of this one though.

So many memories of us twinnies writing letters to Santa as kids. Also, helping our little sisters write their letters. I really do need to ask any of you kind readers, who does remember writing their letters to Santa? Does anyone care to share? Oh, come on everyone…It will be fun! 🙂 How many of us downright lied about being so good all year long? 😉 That’s one thing that made Autumn and I laugh like crazy! Does anyone fess up that they were ever bad? 😉

Anyway, the other thought we chatted about was about is… Who was handing those letters to Santa over to Dad and Mom. Did you ever ask how they would get there? Or not asking how they would get there, just totally believing it would be mailed off to the North Pole? I remember Autumn and I insisting on seeing the envelope one year, Mom produced it! Oh, ye of little faith..No, she didn’t say that. 😉 Our Mom, as well as Dad were just always prepared it seems.

One year after the first  and then second little sister was born… And this I should be ashamed to tell. The twinnies seriously and boldly added in our letter to Santa…Please next time bring us a little brother. Oops, Santa couldn’t promise that one and next baby arriving at our house was a sister, too!

Anyway, this was a fun subject for Autumn and me . We both thought it would be fun to share some of our letters to Santa thoughts. You guessed it! I am asking again… Who among any kind readers would like to share? We twinnies as always would love to hear! 🙂 🙂

Christmas Movies…Some Good, Some Bad ~ By Gabby Angel

That’s what I just have to talk about today! Christmas time movies we all have seen. Watching one of my very own personal favorites last night…Well it made me once again ponder. I just know everyone has got to love at least one as their total favorite. Perhaps maybe love or even like a few…On the other hand, everyone’s got ones they just hate, and just very much detest. Some of  them are TV movies, some of them were on the big screen. Love them or hate them, everyone’s got an opinion right? What a cool idea for a blog that makes.
I will share some of my loves, likes and even dislikes. Autumn will of course offer up hers, too. Then, perhaps some of you kind readers will want to share…Just give it a thought maybe? Anyway, one of my favorites is Miracle on 34th Street. I know, there are a couple versions, but my personal fave is the one from the 1940’s. It is a movie we watched as a family over and over growing up. Once a year, without fail we would watch this one as well as a few others. By the way that is also one of Autumn’s faves.
It’s a Wonderful Life…I like that one, who doesn’t? Well, actually I have heard a few people call it dark, a bit depressing. But it has a happy ending! Also, that one line that remains embedded in my mind. Every time a bell rings an angel gets it’s wings…I love that line! The Grinch That Stole Christmas, yuck…Didn’t like it as a kid and probably wouldn’t now either. I know, it’s a cartoon…The Grinch mended his ways. Sorry, I still didn’t ever like it and it made the twinnie and me cry as  young girls.
I liked most of the cartoon type movies, can’t think of any that made us twinnies cry anyway. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, the twinnies fave cartoon movie! Let’s not forget good old Charlie Brown, always a winner.Let’s see, A Christmas Carol was kind of not too warm and fuzzy but quite watchable and brought a very good message to us all. Everything worked out well, right. Who will forget the most recited line…God Bless Us Everyone! Another happy ending, my favorite kind. Twinnie loves Die Hard, she had and still perhaps still has a thing for Bruce Willis though. Elf…Not bad Autumn and I both liked it. Scrooged, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, well they are notable because I just didn’t care for them all that well. Either did Autumn I should add.
Well, seems I have been rambling about good and bad Christmas movies, cartoons and all. So many I have left out or forgotten, but maybe it’s for the best…I could no doubt go on for way too long!
Now, how about everybody jumping in? What is your personal favorite, or least favorite…We twinnies would as always love to hear what you think! 🙂 🙂

There’s magic in the air ~ by Autumn Sunshine

There is  magic in the air

look around if you want to share

in the delight of the season

I think there is a reason

That the magic shows

and also knows

that some of us believe still

we always will

so another year will fulfill

the earthly dreams

so it would seem

that enough still care

and still they dare

to say they do

hmmmm, it’s true

So close your eyes as with each wish

and picture your list

of this and that

and what you say

is I wish, if I may

and stand right there

and you never know for sure

how fast your dream will soar

Think of happy thoughts …

Twinnies Make a Gingerbread House… ~ By Gabby Angel

It’s not easy, let me tell you that! I was remembering last year when Autumn and I made one. It was lots of fun, kind of confusing…And we even had a kit! How embarassing is that to admit? We are both fairly handy and somewhat crafty, but for some reason it was kind of tougher going than we’d expected. Not as easy as Mom made them look, that’s for sure.

Wonder if was the twinnie combination…Did we laugh too much and not get serious? Probably, we made it more difficult than need be. It was so much laughing, making a mess all over my kitchen table, somewhat on ourselves even! Of course we also debated a lot. ;). The good news, it turned out very nicely after all was said and done. It was so much improvising and changing things on our part, but a fun project for a few hours.

I know, I don’t think it takes people that long…Our youngest sister got one put together so quickly. That was a couple years ago, she made it sound so easy and she had the two little nephews helping her! What prompted this memory? Well, I was looking at this year’s latest gingerbread houses. Some looked easy, some weren’t even made out of gingerbread either…How weird, isn’t that the whole point of a gingerbread house? 😉

Anyway, Autumn and I were talking about my findings and if we were brave enough to try one this year. Sadly no, we decided against it. We twinnies know we just couldn’t stay focused. Both Autumn and I have the need to create…But this year neither of us has that much time to spare.

I was again pondering and wondering…How many of you ever made your own gingerbread house? Did you find it easy, or did you have a hard time of it? Did you use a kit or make it yourself? Oh my goodness, I do ask far too many questions don’t I? That’s what I’m here for it seems, I am curious that’s all…So is Autumn. Again, if any kind readers have a gingerbread house story to share, please do! Maybe somebody had suggestions to make it quicker and easier, that would be quite welcome to hear also. 🙂 🙂

Waiting for Christmas ~By Autumn Sunshine

Lots of snow

and mistletoe

cookies in a pretty row

We’re all cozy and snug inside

and it’s warm beside

the fireplace

not a trace

of coldness there

we have not one care

just waiting for the big day

let’s stay this way

for the rest of the time

before long  Santa will shine

and the reindeer will prance

and dance

as they hope for a chance

of a carrot or two

maybe even a few

Their magic flight on the special night

is only days away and what a sight

So here we are and we wish upon the shooting star

that all will be safe and sound

lots of magic around

For at our home will be found

Special treats for Santa and the reindeer

we leave plenty of cheer

for they are all so dear

My darling man and me

are happy as can be …

Do Santa’s Elves Have Names? ~ Gabby Angel

Do they, does anybody know the answer? Do Santa’s elves have names, what are they? We have heard about elves since forever, why aren’t any names ever mentioned? Hmm…I was just pondering and wondering about this one. I of course had to ask Autumn, she couldn’t think of  those elves names either. Surely we twinnies weren’t the only ones not to have a clue! Anyway, after getting Santa’s reindeer names all straight (and earlier post of mine), well the elves names popped into my mind. Again, my mind is a mystery even to me…Who knows where these thoughts come from?I don’t question my thoughts…Just happy I am thinking!
It’s a fun subject anyway, sticking with my Christmas thoughts of late. In checking out the real facts I know, elves are magical, multi-talented and quite the help to Santa and even to Mrs. Claus.
In the movie “The Year Without a Santa Claus” the 2 elves featured were Jingle and Jangle. Wonder who knew or remembered that? I didn’t, but I haven’t watched the movie as of late to be quite honest. I also found out Santa is very up to date and computer savvy, as are the elves, who would have guessed? They receive e-mails from people, imagine that! Also they have been know to get some text messages. Wow! Of course some people do it the old fashioned way…They actually write a letter!
I digress as usual, back to the names. One place I checked mentioned the 6 names: Bushy Evergreen, Shinny Upatree, Winorslae, Pepper Minstix, Sugar Plum Mary and Alabaster Snowball. Kind of catchy don’t you think? Can’t decide which one I like better, can you? One other place I checked listed 9 elves names, seems to be a bit of a confusion about the number of elves. The 9 names I uncovered are: Red Elf, Blue Elf, Black Elf, White Elf, Yellow Elf, Green Elf, Brown Elf, Fire Elf and Moon Elf.
Keeping with the thought that elves are as different as humans and they come from all over the world. That makes sense, doesn’t it? There you have the facts I uncovered, is any of it true? I guess that is up to anyone who happens to be reading this! It’s up to all of you…Elves by whatever name are just plain magic. I for one am not going to question anything…It’s all in the magic of believing after all! 😉 🙂

Snow Globes… ~by Gabby Angel

I always found snow globes  rather fascinating, so does Autumn. Wonder who doesn’t like snow globes, after all…They are just magical fun. If you don’t like snow globes, feel free to say so. Even if it will totally crush us twinnies! Kidding, we are all grown up…At least most of the time. 😉

What got me on the subject of snow globes? Wandering into my favorite local craft/gift shop. Trying to finish up the minor little details of the shopping for Christmas gifts. Never have I seen such a child so intrigued with a snow globe. I have many friends and family, seen happy and awed reactions…But this little boy was smitten with this snow globe. I stumbled (not literally) upon him sitting on the floor in the back section of the shop. His mother had wandered off to look at something else, not a good thing to do. I mean, come on now…Kids can move fast, can do unpredictable things and all that. Plus, it’s just not safe!

But, this little boy was quiet and lost in the magic of that snow globe and really behaving. I didn’t think he even noticed me, so I was surprised when he gave me a smile. Holding up the  snow globe (be careful cute little boy, it’s breakable!) he proudly announced “Look Bambi is inside here and it’s snowing“. That was so darn cute, I had to laugh. Of course I admired the snow globe, Bambi and all. The little boy told me his name was Tristan and we had a nice little chat for a few minutes and were joined by the shop owner and the missing mother.

Seems, Tristan’s mother had paid for her purchases and oops, forgot Tristan and realized he was gone when she reached her car! A very hectic time of the year, I felt sorry for her she was so embarassed and also quite teary eyed. The shop owner and I reassured her no harm was done and Tristan was safe after all. They paid for the snow globe and got ready to leave…Not until she apologized again. They left with friendly goodbyes, but she had a strong hold of Tristan’s hand!

Snow globes can be mesmerizing, that was one point of my relating this shopping adventure. Second point, please don’t get so busy, harried and worried about your shopping that you leave your child behind by mistake! Last but not least, third point…Let’s please do remember the reason for the season!
