Waiting for Christmas ~By Autumn Sunshine

Lots of snow

and mistletoe

cookies in a pretty row

We’re all cozy and snug inside

and it’s warm beside

the fireplace

not a trace

of coldness there

we have not one care

just waiting for the big day

let’s stay this way

for the rest of the time

before long  Santa will shine

and the reindeer will prance

and dance

as they hope for a chance

of a carrot or two

maybe even a few

Their magic flight on the special night

is only days away and what a sight

So here we are and we wish upon the shooting star

that all will be safe and sound

lots of magic around

For at our home will be found

Special treats for Santa and the reindeer

we leave plenty of cheer

for they are all so dear

My darling man and me

are happy as can be …

A Rather Silly Christmas Memory… ~ By Gabby Angel

I know, a weird title isn’t it? This one is just begging to be written, silly and somewhat funny. The idea for this one came from seeing a neighbor of mine wearing a Santa Hat. I know, my mind works in mysterious ways…I just can’t explain it. Anyway, this one is the wacky and kind of bizarre things people put on their heads during the Christmas time. Santa hats, those cute little sets of reindeer antlers, elf hats…You get the idea, right? This is not meant to be insulting or hurt the feelings of those who do enjoy doing this.

I for one will not be decking myself out in any such thing…It will mess up my hair for one! That was a joke, the real reason is I just cannot pull off the look. OK, I will be honest…It brings back some childhood memories. You have to understand, Autumn and I have some highly amusing sisters. I know they would both just have a fit I shared this one…But I will be hoping they don’t see fit to read this one.

One year, when these sisters were of quite young ages they both fell in love with sets of those reindeer antlers. OK, so they were good at sweet talking Dad and Mom into each being given a pair. Autumn and I being older, were of course far too dignified to wear such things. We humored the little sisters and told them they looked cute. Big mistake…Since they had been told by others how adorable they looked, too. They took to wearing them non-stop and I am not kidding either, it got seriously irritating…

For one thing they took to prancing around like they thought real reindeer might do. It was just too much sometimes, they even made up cute reindeer names…No, not any of the normal ones either. They christened themselves Princess Jingle  and the other one Princess Bell. How original is that? We weren’t supposed to laugh at that! Oh come on, they named themselves after a Christmas song! Dad and Mom went along with it much better than the twinnie and me. Well, until those little sisters refused to answer to their real names anyway. All the prancing, the silly names, wearing the reindeer antlers 24/7…You just had to be there, so annoying.

Anyway, the reindeer antlers were taken away until they decided to turn themselves back into little girls. They both sulked and pouted…But after not quite a full day  they gave in. Dad and Mom were staying firm and those little sisters knew it! They agreed to go by the rules, the prancing and fake names were under control and peace was restored somewhat in our household. It was a very strange year, that’s all I have to say and Autumn will agree! 😉 🙂

Those Reindeer’s Names… ~ by Gabby Angel

I was thinking about the names of Santa Claus’s reindeer. Who really remembers them all…I didn’t, so I looked them up actually!  Wonder if I should embarass myself to admitting to that one! Anyway, I kept coming up with only 7 of them, when I kind of had a hunch there were more.

It does kind of get confusing, how many reindeer are there anyway? For real there are technically 8 of them, honestly! Rudolph only got added after the Christmas song became popular. He wasn’t in the original bunch, kind of disgraceful when you think about it, right? Ha ha! Well he showed everyone, he became the most famous reindeer of all! He got to save the day with that cute little red nose of his.

According to “Twas the Night  Before Christmas“, the story clearly and seriously says 8 tiny reindeer. Go figure, and imagine how we can get confused. In talking to Autumn about this, I asked her if she remembered how a couple of our sisters actually got into an argument about this subject. This was when  they were very young… But it wasn’t pleasant to hear them start actually screaming at each other about it. Twinnie remembered, how could either of us forget that one? I won’t mention which two sisters got in the argument, anyone who has read my family memories will know. At their young girl ages, it was obviously of great importance and worth getting argumentive about. Not that either one of them ever needed any excuses! 😉

Anway, I am pondering and wondering…How many of you know the 8 reindeer names? I have a feeling most people will remember. I will name the 8 reindeer, now be honest and let Autumn and I know…Did you get all 8 names right? Again, no pressure, we twinnies are just being curious.

Ready for the list? Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzten. There you have it… All 8 of those darling original reindeer names. I won’t even get started on how  Vixen is the one I left out of the bunch. 😉 🙂
