January is National Soup Month! :)

It’s being celebrated all month long…SOUP and it’s National which makes it very, very important! πŸ™‚ What can I say? I really love to celebrate anything and everything as some of you kind readers already know. By the way, so does Autumn…Did anyone doubt it? πŸ˜‰ We are just fools for anything fun and perhaps sometimes rather silly, too. So I must share this amazing tidbit of news about National Soup Month…Still plenty of days in January left! Who’s going to get cooking?

Those of us living in the colder temperatures of winter, like us here in PA…WeΒ totally just have to embrace the making of soup and any kind you wish to make is just up to you. Make whatever your heart desires and share it, freeze it, eat it and you will be all warm inside and it will spread to your outside, too. Soon we will forget the snow, the cold, the wind and racing to whatever heat source we can find…Try it! What have you got to lose and who doesn’t love soup? Oh no, please don’t tell me someone dislikes a nice bowl of warm homemade soup? Well, it can happen because we all are entirely different of course. If you just don’t like soup you can share of course, you will still be treated kindly because that’s the Twinnie way.

So, for myself I cooked up a huge pot of chicken vegetable soup and shared some, froze some and as a matter of fact just had a nice bowl. Totally yummy and I am warm and happy…See my smile? πŸ™‚ I hear tell Autumn and her darling man made a nice batch of chili yesterday…I am ever so happy they intend to share!

One of the funniest things I heard about was one of my neighbors who hates cooking but loves to eat and was prowling the grocery store section where they sell homemade soup. One of the other neighbors told me she was proudly pawning it off as her own cooking of course because she thinks we all don’t know her secret. I’m not being mean, Mrs Y is just one of those people and you see her and run fast into your house. πŸ˜‰Β She can’t help herself, she just isn’t exactly a very happy camper since her divorceΒ because it was all his fault of course. The kids and grandkids don’t visit enough and when they do it isn’t the right day or time…Well, you kind of get the picture.

Back to soup…Sorry I do digress at times! πŸ˜‰ Anyway kind readers,Β please do feel free to discuss and chat about your thoughts and all about soup. Sharing is what it’s all about and besides this set of inquiring Twinnies would love to know…We’ll be waiting! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  1. What a good thought for January πŸ™‚ we need soup! Thanks for sharing your wonderful soup, it was soooo good!! Our chili turned out very nicely. Now I’m laughing about Mrs. Y. She is something else πŸ˜‰ I can’t help but smile at her buying the soup and saying she made it!!!! It’s just like her, but it’s funny how she is so “different” πŸ˜‰ Great Blog, Twinnie TF ❀

    • We really sure do need warm soup for this cold month Twinnie! πŸ™‚ I’m happy you and YDM loved my soup and I am happy to be over later for some chili, Yay! I know, Mrs Y is quite the different lady and I’m not being nasty but she is kind of scary and glad you have met her so you know what I’m saying…OMG is all I will add on that note. πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚ Thanks for loving this fun post! πŸ™‚ TF ❀

  2. I was just enjoying chicken corn chowder when I read this. Glad to know I’m celebrating, lol. One soup recipe I wish I could get my hands on is La Madeline’s Mushroom soup. OMG, I would do crazy things for that recipe! YUM!

    • The chicken corn chowder sounds just wonderful…You were already celebrating National Soup Month. πŸ™‚ The mushroom soup must be out of this world the way you described it. Thanks so much for stopping in and reading my post, it’s much appreciated! πŸ™‚

  3. I am not a soup lover in general but almost anything homemade is delicious. I love chili and now am drooling!! Just put some homemade spaghetti sauce in the freezer. It is so nice being able to pull real homemade out. Am trying to think if I ever passed anything off as homemade that wasn’t..but don’t think so..

    • I am with you about the chili Chris and also anything homemade is wonderful… I so agree! It really is the best being able to pull out frozen goodies and that sauce sounds so good! πŸ™‚ Maybe you better be making a pot of chili to stop that drooling! πŸ˜‰ That sure gave me a smile, you never passed off anything homemade that wasn’t…Me either I am pleased to report. Guess we’ll have to leave that to my neighbor Mrs Y! πŸ™‚

  4. What a warm celebration with yummy soups, Gabby! I’m not that good at making them, but I have made chicken noodle and Mom’s chili, which is really good! I also love minestrone over brown rice; it’s good, so try it if you haven’t! Thanks for sharing and have a great day, my friend! xoxo

    • Hi Lauren, it really is a celebration this month of all the soups and you are better than you say about making them! πŸ™‚ I love that you make minestrone with brown rice…It’s just the best, I don’t much care for white rice myself. I’m so sorry I am so late in answering, I slept so much of this day away…I promise to get an email back to you. I hope your day has been good so far, take care! xoxo

      • No worries, Gabby, I hope you feel rested! πŸ™‚ I had a good day and it feels good to have a good day! πŸ™‚ Just email when you can; don’t stress! Love and hugs, my friend! xoxo

p.s. I’ve decided on one new goal for this year…at least once a month, try a new recipe for dinner or make something different that I haven’t made in a long time. So….tonight, I made Swedish meatballs and they were so good. I think it’s been 10 years since I’ve made them. In my mind, I thought they were more work, but really, they weren’t bad at all. Anyway, my passion is not cooking and I get tired of making the same things all the time and so does my son! πŸ™‚ Well, he’ll eat what I make, but he does have a point. It’s nice to try something new for a change. Okay, this is way too long, so sleep well! xoxo

        • I am feeling rested Lauren and also surprised I slept the day away…But sometimes it goes that way. πŸ™‚ I am so happy to hear you had a good day, it makes me smile and pray those good days keep rolling! Thanks for telling me not to stress about emailing back, you are so sweet but I do hope to get back to you very soon. I am loving your PS, it’s such a fun goal and the swedish meatballs sound so good. πŸ™‚ I got a laugh about your son, maybe he can start joining in on the cooking! πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚ xoxo

        • What’s funny is he loves to cook! He’s a senior in h.s. and shows more interest in the kitchen than my daughter! Since she’ll be transferring to college this fall, I better start insisting she spend more time learning! πŸ™‚ xoxo

        • Yay, your son loves to cook! πŸ™‚ I think you need to get that sweet daughter of your cooking soon, too. I always loved cooking so guess I am kind of different…Dave liked to cook sometimes, too but much perferred mine but he was a good helper! πŸ™‚ xoxo

        • They really should all help out, I so agree. Autumn’s darling man and husband to be loves cooking and really is quite good at it. Lol, sometimes though it really is all about us! πŸ™‚ xoxo

        • πŸ™‚ I’m visiting other blogs and feel so far behind, but I’ll do what I can and hope to not stress about not having enough time…do you ever stress out? xoxo

        • I sadly do stress sometimes Lauren and also feel so far behind with everything, too. We really shouldn’t though and just try to do our best instead, something we maybe should work on! πŸ™‚ xoxo

        • Great advice for both of us! I have to put laundry away now, so sleep well and talk to you soon! Thanks so much for your friendship, Gabby, to you and Autumn! Love ya lots! πŸ™‚

        • It’s great advice and we better try and stick with it now, right? πŸ˜‰ I’ll talk to you soon and will no doubt be back to sleep in awhile. You are so welcome for our friendship and thank you so much for yours, too! Autumn and me both also love you lots, too! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  5. Soup is just great comfort food any time of the year but of course, Wintertime begs for its warmth! Chili is always inviting but at our house, it is definitely my husband’s Chicken Corn Soup. There are probably a gazillion different versions but when you’ve had the best, there isn’t much room for the rest. LOL:>) Yep! I AM spoiled!

What do you think??
