Foods Of July

Here it is July already and again it’s time for those National and Celebrated Foods. Well, of course I have to deliver the news as promised, right?  Let’s get down to talking food kind readers and from what I’ve discovered, it’s all pretty good, too! 🙂 There are 8 of them in all this month, so it should be interesting for us to get down to talking food. I am happy to report the National Foods are:1. Blueberries 2. Ice Cream  3.Watermelon and 4.Hot Dogs and the Celebrated Foods are: 1. Pickles 2. Baked Beans 3. Eggplant 4. Lettuce. Does anyone see a little trend developing here, or is it just me?

There seems to be a lot of picnic type food going on and for good reason since it’s summertime and that spells Picnics! I know the lettuce and eggplant aren’t exactly in the picnic category, I think somebody was thinking gardens on those two. But they are good and you can take them on picnics if you want to, a bit out of the ordinary perhaps but there are no rules! Salads are always good anytime is my opinion and lettuce rocks! 🙂

Eggplant parmesan is so much a favorite of both Autumn and me, eggplant really does get two thumbs up from the both of us in general. I have a feeling some of you just might not share our love for this vegetable, love it or hate it…Do share! The ice cream making it in the national foods isn’t exactly picnic food, but who doesn’t  simply love ice cream? Hopefully the answer will be nobody! Please don’t tell me some of you kind readers aren’t ice cream fans, I will be disappointed and surprised. But everyone does have their own individual tastes and all, right? So, if you aren’t an ice cream lover speak right up…But do tell us why for heaven’s sake! 😉 I am so thinking of ice cream I may just have to get a small dish when I finish writing this post, I kid you not! So many flavors, so little time is what I say. 🙂

Anyway, all in all the foods for July have just been so much joy for me to share with all of you. Not really a bad one in the bunch again this month, although to be honest I don’t eat hot dogs and either does Autumn, it has to do with the not eating of most meats.

Please do give these 8 foods some thoughts and do share your opinions, likes and dislikes…It will  be fun! Catch up with me in August for the foods of that month, too because I will be here and happy to report them all. I sure hope you enjoyed reading this post and yes you guessed it…I must go for now because the ice cream in my freezer is calling my name! 😉 🙂

The Celebrated and National Foods for April

Here we are again, another month of Celebrated and National Foods. As always, I am very happy to share them with you kind readers. This month brings us 3 National foods and 5 Celebrated ones. The 3 National ones are very good and let’s do start with them! 🙂

1. Grilled Cheese Sandwiches 2. Soft Pretzels 3. Pecans…Yay, not a bad one there I do have to say! 🙂 Come on, who doesn’t love grilled cheese sandwiches? Soft pretzels, another winner there…Well, at least Autumn and I think so! Pecans, they are very good and especially in pecan pie. I have a feeling not everyone will be agreeing, so do share your thoughts and feeling on those 3 National foods please!

Now, let’s move it along to the Celebrated Foods shall we? OK, right off the bat I need to say…Not everyone is going to like all these. I just have one of those feelings…The Twinnies have to put in their 2 cents and say a couple of these are kind of yucky. That’s to us of course, some of you kind readers really may like them. You never do know, everyone is different, right?

Here they are those Celebrated foods for April…1. Cranberries 2. Gooseberries 3. Brussel Sprouts 4. Cabbage 5. Soy Foods. I know right away I will tell you, Autumn and I both say Yuck to Brussel Sprouts and we both really love most veggies, too. Gooseberries, what are those and I really mean it! Cabbage comes in as OK, nothing real wild and exciting to us and nothing we Twinnies will rave about. Cranberries, we like them for real we do! Soy Foods…Well, Soy Milk is OK with both Autumn and I. Most especially the vanilla and chocolate! The rest of the Soy Foods…not too much there to say. Well, like I told you kind readers, the National Foods came in more to both Autumn’s and my liking.

Now, what do all of you have to say? Any among the National or Celebrated foods to your liking? Any of them you can say Yuck to? Do feel free to share any and all thoughts with us Twinnies please. We are both wanting to hear your opinions. Autumn and I both are seriously wanting to know… does anyone really like Brussel Sprouts? Nobody is going to make fun or be mean to you, honestly and it’s a good question. Well, there you have it kind readers…The foods of April! Never fear, I will be delivering the news next month on the foods of May, too! 🙂 🙂

Celebrated Foods for February by Gabby

This is an interesting food month! There are 8 different foods celebrated I found, seriously and sadly no drinks. For such a short month I find this very odd 8 different foods, well just go figure! January has 31 days and there were only 3 celebrated  food & drink, it is beyond my comprehension. Good thing I am reporting only the food facts. I wouldn’t begin to ponder how the number of celebrated foods change from month to month. Who decides the choices anyway?

Since there are 8 foods let’s get started with me telling you kind readers just what they are! It’s National Cherry Month, National Grapefruit Month, National Hot Breakfast Month. Those are the 3 that made it to “National Month”, the other 5 are only mere “celebrated foods”. In no particular order ( I always wanted to say that, it’s sounds so official and all!) 1. Avocado 2. Banana 3. Sweet Potato 4. Canned Food 5. Great American Pie. Wow, where to begin? As far as the “National Foods” go, Cherries are good and need to be celebrated! Very good fruit and versatile, too! Both us Twinnies say Yay to cherries. Same with the Hot Breakfast Idea, it’s a wonderful way to start your day! Do I always follow that rule? Speaking honestly no, but that’s what Carnation Instant Breakfast is for! The same goes for Autumn, along with her chai tea!

Grapefruit…I am sorry I detest grapefruit and so does Autumn. Anyone have any thoughts about the “National Foods”? Does anyone really like grapefruit? There has to be somebody who does, right? I wasn’t bashing grapefruit, by the way…Please do know that. Maybe you like it a lot… If so, please share!

The other “Celebrated Foods” of February, well I have to say Yuck to Avocados! The Twinnie echoed my thoughts, just in case you were wondering. I know, some of you kind readers probably love them. If so, please share! Bananas, good fruit and good for us. Both of the Twinnies love them! Thumbs up to Sweet Potatoes, too. Again, Autumn and I simply love sweet potatoes! Canned Food, I am sorry to be so down on the stuff…But it really isn’t very healthy or good tasting and some of it, just loaded with sodium! Autumn also does agree, by the way. Last but not least, in my book and the Twinnie’s we have Pie…Love it! Who doesn’t? If not, please do tell…What’s not to like?

So many flavors, so little  time…I have to say I couldn’t narrow a favorite pie choice down to just 1, either could Autumn. Wonder if we are alone on this one? Pumpkin, Apple, Cherry, Lemon Meringue, Blueberry, Chocolate Cream and I will stop at these 6 favorites of ours. Who has a favorite pie flavor, or like Autumn and me more than one? Do share, let us know please!  Well this was fun, now I am off to go have a small slice of pie! 😉 🙂

Celebrated Food and Drink for January… by Gabby

Yes, I am serious. 🙂 There really a few foods for January that get celebrated. Well, probably not by most…I am not clear on how well this has caught on. It’s just another interesting and kind of fun thought to ponder, I really do love pondering! 😉 I also just love sharing, too…Guess you all noticed that!  Anyway, it’s Hot Tea Month, National Soup Month and last but not least, National Oatmeal Month. All comforting foods and also drink, so good choices for this month of January.

Here in our area of the country it is below zero temperatures again…We want warmth. We want it now! 🙂 Hot tea is nice of course, I like it but also love my coffee. Now, the twinnie is addicted to her chai tea, so she celebrates this every day. How many of you just love a nice cup of tea of any kind, any flavor? Do you have a favorite?

Now, on to the celebrated Soup, another very nice food for warming us up! Favorites…So many to choose from, aren’t there? I couldn’t pin down a favorite to be honest, but they need to be homemade! In my reading, I discovered Chicken Noodle was the top favorite…Not that big of a surprise, right? 😉 What others made the cut as favorites? Tomato soup, Chili, Minestrone, Vegetable with or without meat, Beef Stew, Chowders of any variety. Those are only a few, who has a favorite…Care to share? I really am partial to Lentil soup, Minestrone and Italian wedding soup, so is Autumn…We like almost any of the soups quite honestly.

Lastly, we come to oatmeal…I bet some of you reall ydislike this stuff, just a hunch. The flip side some of you really like it, right? I am in the Like category and so is Autumn. Toss in any kind of fruit, maybe some brown sugar, maybe honey and it’s good. The best news, it is good for all of us, too! We can also bake up some oatmeal cookies, for those who don’t like your oatmeal in a bowl. 😉

There you have the celebrated food and drink of the month of January! Hopefully, you kind readers enjoyed yet another food blog. Any thoughts, opinions or favorites of the above 3 choices? Or are you too busy running to the kitchen for a snack? 😉 🙂

What is Your Favorite Meal? ~by Gabby

This is going to be a fun post, I just know it! 🙂 Autumn and I were talking about food, our favorites and what we were hungry for. Well, that made us have a nice thought.

We are posting a couple pictures of our favorite meal! Well, one of our total favorites anyway. So many to choose from, but we twinnies narrowed it down. Take a look, aren’t we just shameful baked tortellini and cannoli for dessert? Think of the calories…Let’s just don’t!

Sometimes you just have to enjoy the good food and throw caution to the wind, right?

OK, now it’s your turn…What is your favorite meal, dessert and all? Come on kind readers, it will be fun! Let’s share our favorite foods…What do you say? Are you in…As always, inquiring twinnies are wanting to know! 🙂 🙂
